I kinda feel bad for him, He has an Amazing Shot, he’s just Lazy, If someone like MTL can pick him with St. Louis maybe he can unlock his potential.
I think any team with half decent forward development should take the risk for a million or less. Worst case, he sits in the press box and eats a tiny bit of cap. The upside is he uses this whole situation as motivation to improve. There's so many cases in recent years of forwards people thought were toast improving, why not Zadina?
To choose to walk away from 4.6M. Zadina made that choice and it wasn't Detroit. You gotta honestly respect that. But as a 6th overall pick, you should expect a tad more production than what has occurred so far.

People hating his “fill your net with pucks” comment need to grow the fuck up.
At the time he was considered a top 5 player in the world for his age and was trying to sell himself. Wtf did you want him to say, “I’d be upset you didn’t pick me and will play terribly”?
He was an 18 year old kid with confidence. If he said the opposite y’all would lambast him too

The sharks have alot of his countrymen and he could get some roster time he did play 190 games and the red wings did play him EVERYWHERE. and good or bad he had 2 coaches on the wings who seemingly shared the same viewpoint.

He's a bust.
Zadina didn't work in the corners. For a six footer, he wasn't physical. He waited for his team mates to dig the puck out. He 'd skate to find open ice; hoping his team mates pass the puck to him so he can get a shot on net. This worked in Juniors against young defensemen and young goalies and it showed in his inflated numbers… but, NOT in the NHL. His lack of offense and his liability on defense was his down fall. It happens to most draft prospects. Most prospects fail to make it in the NHL. It's life's reality. It's a shame it took the red wings five years to realize he wasn't going to make it. All he did was block other young prospects from their turn to move up.
Really surprised Zadina walked away from that contract. He's betting on himself. He needs to find the right situation for himself now.
I dont swear but if i did, you " Graviteh" what the heck are you babbling about? Zadina left Detroit not the other way around! Its a disaster the way they treated Zadina! He will absolutely be signed, and in a cpl years will a top threat! Mark my words
I think this has a lot to do with his work ethic on the ice. When I watch Wings games he just flat out didn’t adjust to the NHL. He’d avoid the puck battles and just wait for his line mates to get him the puck. That may have gotten him through in lower leagues but he’s had plenty of time to blossom into the NHLer he’s projected to be and failed.
I think it's too early to put the bust label on him as he is still pretty young! I am quite certain some NHL team will at least sign Zadina to a league-minimum contract.
The point is nobody really knows so fans have to calm the F down. Only the Bedards Crosbys McDavids and even then things happen. Even MacKinnon was reportedly on the trading block at some point in the first few years so sit down and take your pulse.
The saddest thing is that as a Wings fan I kinda like him as a defensive 3rd liner, he just isn't worth what he was supposed to be and every other team in the league agrees but also doesn't see the bottom 6 value of him
His problem is he cannot create his own space which makes his shot worthless. The jump from juniors is wayyyy different. He had plenty of time and space in juniors. When he got to the NHL that time and space is gone and he shown he cant adjust. Hes been given every opportunity. Top line, PP he was given every opportunity over and over and over again. Hes lucky the redwings gave him that much time and effort.
I think he a 4th liner who need to just be defensive and work on that
Walking away from $4.56 mil is a horrible move for anyone. I suppose he feels disrespected.
Issue is other teams know he turned down being demoted to the AHL, so his attitude is known.
He should go KHL or Czech league.

Ill say this: IF and its a huge IF- but IF he succeeds on another team I think it would be time to have a serious discussion about the pass weve collectively given the… erm… yzerplan. The xracks are already startimg to show- Cossa 9ver Wallstedt startong to look egregious, this ufa season was puzzling at best, and although I like Danielsson more than most- Ill be very ontrigued to see how he develops compared to Zack Benson- who i thoyght was a gimme pick for the chicken wangs…
Jets should pick him up. I’ve noticed they’re pretty good at developing young players, and with their younger guys coming up I think he would have a good chance at improving there.
Don Granato is a development coach. Sabres should pick him up.
There's no way he is signing a two way contract. He refused to go to the ahl thats what forced Yzerman to cut ties. You want a guy with an inflated ego and zero effort to improve and in return get 5-10 goals provided he gets middle 6 minutes… go for it

Z's problem is between the ears. No confidence, self-hatred and lack of mental toughness made all his physical skills meaningless.
Finally, they got off the hopium. Now get DeBrinkat and call it a roster.
LW, good pedigree, good looking kid, looked quite a bit like Henrik Zetterburg. Just didn't play like him.
He was never used correctly in Detroit. He has his strengths and weaknesses like any player but was always expected to adapt 100% to a system that would never work for him. He is a mediocre skater and isn't great at entering the zone, forcing him on a 3rd line and trying to make him play dump and chase was never going to work. On a more offensively minded team paired with playmaking center I still think he can score 30 goals a season. He still has great vision in the O zone and an elite shot, but you have to get him there because he's not going to do it by himself.
It was bad from the minute Holland mentioned his name. We wanted Quinn Hughes.
