  1. Besides the good start oh Reilly didnā€™t do all that much. He choked with the rest of the team in the second round

  2. The team may get fewer regular season points but I think they'll have better chances in the playoffs. Especially if McCabe looks more comfortable and Lafferty is actually given PK time.

  3. One thing to consider when looking at those lines, Toronto still needs to move about $8 million in cap space to make it to the cap ceiling. I still think Nylander and Murray are going to be moved as cap sacrifices, it's just on them to figure out how that'll work. They also still haven't signed Samsonov, meaning potentially more cap needs to be moved.

  4. Worse of course, remember how bad your pk was? Now imagine a weaker defence and about 600 more pim's to try and kill with one of the worst pk's in the league? How does no leafblower understand anything about hockey? šŸ˜‚ you traded players for goons who run at people for no reason and hurt your team with many many penalties.

  5. Devil's fan here. I live in Ontario so most of the people I know are leaf fans, and I swear they act like "this is the year", yet again.

Unbiasedly, they've gotten a little better. But not by much and if you argued that they're roughly the same, I wouldn't put up much of a fight.

For me, again, it'll come down to the core. Domi and Bertuzzi aren't going to win you the cup alone. So not much different from last year.

But yeah, they've gotten better, but just a bit

  6. As a Leaf fans, listing ROR, Schenn and Acciari stings, but the additions out way the subtractions. I loved Bertuzzi in Detroit, Klingberg can add some depth, that the Leafs 2nd PP needs. Domi is a solid signing, good 3rd line C or 2nd line LW. Reeves, Iā€™m very happy with, the Leafs needed to get tougher.

  7. Really glad that Holl, Bunting & Kerfoot are all gone. All 3 aren't worth the money that they received from other teams. I wanted to keep O'Rielly & Schenn. I wouldn't of wanted to keep O'Rielly for 4 years at 4.5 mil per though. Schenn will be missed and I would rather of kept him over signing Klingberg any day. Klingberg is not the type of defenceman the Leafs needed. Signing him is a head scratcher to me. I like the addition of Reaves but not for 3 years. He's 36. Absolutely ove the Bertuzzi and Domi signings. I would say up front we got better but on the back end we got weaker. We can already score a lot of goals so to me, the defence needed to improve more and it didn't so I think I have to say they got a bit worse.

  8. We should really compare the Leafs roster at beginning of the 2022 season to this roster going into 2023, instead of post TDL roster. Compared to what we went into last season with, I think the team is much stronger out of the gate.

  9. They got better offensively and in the toughness department.. but kinda weaker defensively which was always their biggest problem in the playoffs

  10. I think itā€™s still a little too early to say whether or not the leafs got better or worse cause Treliving is still gonna make a move or two on D. He said he wants to overhaul the whole D corps so weā€™ll have a better idea just before training camp. Plus I honestly believe nylander is gonna get traded. Probably for a d man

  11. Leafs fan from Germany:

I think its way to early to say, if the Leafs got better/worse!

So far we have Murray and Woll in goal, contract issues with 3 of the core 4. An untradable, but overpayed JT… Rielly was the only one taking a discount…
    We are way of Caplimit….

Long story short: There will be coming some moves and we dont know, what they are up to, BUT

I like the way its heading…

  12. With the caveat that Klingberg and I share a hometown (potentially clouding my judgment)- I think Klingberg will have one heck of a bounce back season. Without betting any money, I am predicting Klingberg +60 points.

  13. Bertuzzi said no to more bridge contracts. Well?
The guy has done so much to unravel his salary scale and puff up his own worth. He had opportunities for longer deals that supplies some stability. Not now, if he goes injured this upcoming season for any spell, his value will earth dart.

  14. Domi, i think is gonna be huge in Toronto, watched his dad bleed in that jersey, he's gonna be more motivated than ever

  15. I think itā€™s the core. They canā€™t win with them. Theyā€™ve had plenty of opportunity to win with them. I donā€™t trust them at all no matter who they have.

Do think they got worse though.

  16. Bertuzzi is good but the Domi signing is meh. Hyped up because of the name, also no NHL calibre goalie in the roster

  17. I don't know what to think about the signings of Bertuzzi, Domi, and Klingberg. They're boom or bust imo. Can't really go wrong with the contracts tho. Low risk on their part.

  18. I would say overall better offensively, significantly stronger top 6 while admittedly weaker in the bottom 6, and D kinda breaks even. Losing Schenn really hurts but finally dumping Holl feels absolutely euphoric. I donā€™t care what the charts say about Klingberg; Holl is objectively worse and the eye test proves it ten times out of ten.

Besides, the roster is extraordinarily not cap compliant right now and clearly is incomplete on the blue line. Iā€™m expecting trades – at least 1 with Calgary – and overall this changeup has me hopeful. Are they better? Eh, I donā€™t know, they certainly arenā€™t deeper. But I donā€™t care – it finally feels like a fresh look at this team and how they surround the core.

  19. They got better. Way more toughness and gritā€¦and arguably talent. It will show up come playoff time.

  20. Worse without a doubt, we will be worse offensively and defensively but our 4th line will be really good at getting suspended in the 4 minutes a night they play in playoffs

  21. O Reilly doesnā€™t have to balls to play in a Canadian market , he can enjoy middling mediocrity in Nashville while the leafs compete for cups

  22. I hated seeing Schenn and Acciari go. I knew ROR wasn't sticking around, even though I would have loved that..

I think the Reaves signing is low key potentially one of the best moves he made. Given that he nabbed Bert, that's saying a lot. We've slowly come to discover that one of this teams bigger problems is the dressing room, or namely, the lack of a real one. Hearing that sometime in round one was the first time that they'd gotten together for a team dinner blew my mind. It's no wonder that these guys don't stick up for each other.. Sounds like they barely know each other. Hah. I'm obviously using hyperbole, but I loved what I heard about that from Reaves.. if he can make these guys become a real hockey family, that would do wonders for this team.

It makes you wonder if that's what the missing ingredient has been with these guys. I guess we'll see

  23. Won't change anything when Matthews and Marner can't do shit in the play offs, what does stars matter when they disappear when it matters?

  24. Thank god Holl is GONE!!! now get Murray out of here and free up some space!!! who the hell is Gambrell??? MARLIES!!!!

  25. Thank you for a great video once again! Any chance you could do a similar one about the predators as I feel like they had quite many big changes and also a new GM!

  26. Imo they got worse, at least on paper. You lose Oā€™Reilly, Acciari, Bunting, Schenn, Holl, and Kerfoot although the last 2 might not bother the leafs too much. Reaves is maybe the worst PLAYER Iā€™ve watched in the nhl but he might provide much needed leadership in the locker room, that contract is terrible tho. Klingberg is ok offensively but theyā€™re gonna need a guy almost as good as Slavin to bail out atrocious defense. Domi is an interesting player and has done well on some teams but I was not convinced by his performance in Dallas, he was an empty net merchant who took dumb penalties and was otherwise invisible. Bertuzzi is a fantastic signing tho. Overall tho, they lost more than they gained.
