Tough Decisions Ahead..

OK Guys, it’s time to talk about the Habs upcoming training camp and pre-season. Last year we saw both Arber Xhekaj and Kaiden Ghule crack an NHL roster spot right out of camp for the Montréal Canadiens. Who will be this year’s standouts?

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. Mailloux need one more year imo Trudeau is ahead of him.Barron is NOWHERE on my list he is not a good defenseman because he thinks too slow.IDK maybe if he ever learns to think faster but I am not even a fan of his stature or IQ I feel like I would rather have Harris over him all day any day.
I know so many are sold on Dach but imo NONE of the trade moves were any good and Hughes SHOULD be sticking to draft picks acquiring more draft picks and developing the young talent not going out and getting waste of time players.

  2. Loaded on defense so now some good defense has to get moved or spend time in Laval waiting for injuries.I should have seen 3 straight forward draft picks and or MORE like acquire another top draft pick instead of trading them away.
Sorry Matheson was a great trade the rest are dumb trades. However aside from Matheson I worry a lot about management and coaching because neither are convincing me they know how to build a winner. If Hughes is thinking NYR well they already had a legit first line so yeah Adam Fox was a good pick but guess what the Habs do NOT have a legit first line.

  3. I LOVE your content, but your intro is SOOOO annoying. especially after so many times.

  4. As it sits today, I don't think there is high probability of any of them making the team out of camp, because the Habs currently have 25 players for a 23 team roster. Not a bad thing, as building a competitive team in Laval would mean great things for the future and injuries happen, so I think all of the mentioned players will get a chance in the Habs lineup at some point this season. As well the Habs current roster has some waivers exempt personnel and I see three players (Pezz, Pitlick, Wideman), that you could put through waivers and have extremely low risk of them being picked up (and not a problem if they are). I see two players (Armia, Hoff) that they would like to trade, but I doubt any of the other 31 GM's would be interested. Dvo might generate interest, but until they have a Center who can match his FO win % they will likely keep him unless a good offer is made.
My best hope for this season is that Laval is in the battle for the Calder Cup, and each of these players are set up for success and give Kent Hughes motivation to create a spot on the roster for them.

  5. Considering how amazing MAilloux was in the OHL playoffs playing for Dale Hunter at 30mins a game, he is ready for the NHL. I play him right away with Matheson to learn from a real pro. Ghule stays with Savard and Wifi plays with Harris. Name me one other Dman that can take a spot away from MAilloux??? I dare you…Wideman needs to go and give the young guys two other spots

  6. Honorable mentions to Sean Farrell and Lias Anderson. They could also make the team, pushing deadwood like Hoffman to waivers and then Laval.

  7. heineman 100% he'll take drouin's spot. i loved him last year at training camp but felt like he was a little bit shaky, but when he came back in rockets playoff, I felt like he was heavier, especially lower body. he's making the team next year. Either way, Rocket laval will be very captivating next year.

  8. As I keep saying since last year's camp. If Buttman doesn't give Mailloux his go-ahead to play:

    1. It would be the single most hypocritical decision in hockey history
    2. I vow to find where that subhuman crapstain live and take a dumb in his mailbox. Why? Because it's long overdue and someone has to

  9. I agree with your list. Except I think Logan has the best chance out of them all. None should make it out of camp and start in Laval but you never know.

  10. I can see any of those players make the team depending how their camp goes. I don't care about Armia. If he has a bad camp, waive him and send him down to laval if that's even an option. One guy you didn't mention is Farrell. He's older than these guys and I can see him being given a chance first. But I would like to see Heineman play most. I'm afraid to lose him if he doesn't get his chance.

  11. Mailloux is the most underrated name in this mix.

Guys got NHLer written all over him but there is little space on the blueline.

  12. For me Beck is the farthest to make the NHL with the ton of foward and especially centers we have in the lineup. Roy and Heineman are the most ready fowards imo but as mentionned before, we have so much foward that it would be difficult to make a spot for them. For mailloux, I think that he's the one that have the most chance to make the NHL simply for what he brings: He's physical, have a nice shot, nice mobility and he's exactly what we been lacking last year on the power play for most of the year. I would see him well play with Matheson. As an extra he can fight and retaliate and he would certainly impose some respect just like Xhekaj and having two guy like this would assure the team to always have a really physical guy on the ice and they would be able to defend better if lets say one is in the box, is injuried or serves a major. One guy that is reaaaaallly underated is Riley KIdney and I'm really excited to see this guy in the pro. Last year he was great but he's been traded in the middle of the year and with his new team, he put up 65 points in only 29 games and a playoff run of 22 points in only 13 games! For me he's a guy that could really surprise and make a spot for himself.

  13. Realistically I think Mailloux will supplant Barron. I can also see Heinman making it. That said I can also see some trades with guys like Ferral and Barron, to get a team to take guys like Hoffman/Armia off our hands.

  14. Roy, not yet. Skating needs to improve. Laval for him. Beck, hopefully, because he's better at face-offs than all other hab options. However, trades need to happen to generate roster spots.

  15. Mailloux and Hutson, though, they will certainly start in Laval but will end up on the Habs roster during the season coming.

  16. Adam Engström is the most NHL ready prospect this season imo he should be making the cut this fall

  17. We rebuilding , we building a new culture , leave all those good kids in Laval and let them WIN. Do not repeat the mistakes from years before and let them grow together. Laval will be filled of juicy prospects , will be so cool to bring them in Montreal as winners from the AHL. Even Big Slav could start with them , take confidence and let him shine. We have nothing to lose anyway.

  18. Hutson could of made it last year even if he wasn't so small! Kids insane! 1 more season and hel be ready

  19. You forgot the big D.
David Rickenbacker wasn't playing dow tempo with highschool musicdogs last season, he was jamming metal with pretty hardcore dads. He'll start with Laval, sure, won't stay there long though.
