I’m at the point where I think it would probably be better to trade him. If it is taking this much to convince him to stay, odds are good the AAV will be too high.
I wonder if trading Lindholm to Washington for Kuznetsov and a first round pick is realistic or enough of a return. I think ownership is mandating that we remain competitive, but I think if we can buy the young players a couple years of development we can avoid tying ourselves to old players on massive contracts with a ton of term.

The issue is he’s doesn’t want to sign cause he doesn’t think Calgary has the team required to win it all which is why he hasn’t already signed yet. At the same time, he hasn’t come out to say he doesn’t want to stay cause he still feels guilt cause Calgary has been good to him and wants him to stay. It’s tough to wait cause he still doesn’t know what he wants yet.

Imo he wants to stay but also wants to be on a contender and not a rebuild/tool team. Probably see how the season goes without darrell and let management know before the deadline if he wants to stay or not.

Honestly if they are offering him what was rumoured (9×8) and he hasn’t decided, that’s your answer and he should be moved. That is more money than most generations of families see in their lives and he gets to make that over 8 years. That is about 500k more than he makes in FA (at least) i love the guy and get he wants to be on a competitive team but it really feels like Conny is being taken for a ride here.

You realize that his agent is asking him to delay till next year in order to see where the cap goes eh?

I think we’re being a bit unreasonable here. Every team has guys set to be UFA next year. No one is signing extensions right now, outside of a 35 year old Kopitar. Let it play out and give these guys time to think it over.

After reading what Looch had to say about why guys are fence sitters about CGY, I don’t really have any desire to see these guys resigned here. Why would Looch make any of that up?
