As a Canes fan. I find it intriguing. The Canes gave up nothing, really. And in return pick up a player still looking for his game. I will say Canes GM Don Waddell has made some "interesting" moves in the past and his track record, at least in Carolina, has been surprisingly positive. I can remember scratching my head when they got rid of or let go of basically all of their goalies a few years ago, including Alex Nedeljkovic. What did he do? Sign Frederic Anderson and Antii Raanta! So we'll see on this one. Maybe having Aho and the other Fins around, he may feel very comfortable in Raleigh. We'll see if he buys into Rod Brindamour's philosophy and can flourish. Time will tell.
To me Jesse is EXACTLY like Gurianov a big guy with some decent skill but can't seem to put it together.
These type of players imo need good coaching which over my lifetime i seldom ever see good coaching.The thing that really stood out for me when the canes last won the cup was they had a few big wingers that really came though in the long playoff grind so maybe Jesse can be that big tough grinding winger in the playoffs.I have seen many a player step it up in the playoffs work harder in the corners tougher in front of the net so maybe we see the best Jesse come playoffs.
Hope they get a bag of puck….too…
