Let me know your thoughts on these buyouts and where they may end up
-Duchene should sign a 1yr deal in Winnipeg after PLD Scheifele gone. Play with Ehlers and Connor,Morrissey rack up points and re up next year one last contract somewhere else.
-Wheeler will go very low salary to league minimum somewhere hot and competitive similar to Staals in Florida,maybe he goes Tampa after moved Perry.

Kostin has value and Holland threw away an asset for nothing… as much as cap space is important …. 500K isn't going to make or break the team.
Definitely seems that one big move Barry was talking about was moving Duchane and for whatever reason they were unsuccessful

Jets are actually buying out Blake Wheeler ? Wow, a tad surprise by this one, but the NHL is a business and sometimes, tough decisions have to be made. Duchene getting bought out doesn't surprise me at all, totally didn't live up to the $8Mil level of production. BUT, this is going to sting Nashville a bit for awhile.
If you're going to sign someone to an $8 million a year contract you better be damn sure about that individual for at least the length of the contract. I think some of these teams throw these big contracts around and a couple years into them either they can't afford it or it was a mistake.
I'm sure Trotz and Poile did their due diligence, but was there no market for Duchene, even with half salary retained..? I would think a few teams would jump at him for 4 million, and even send a few assets back.
I wonder if Duchene is going to go back to Colorado. With Landeskog out, they need a Center, and with Duchene already getting paid still from the Preds, maybe he will sign cheap ($2-3 million), and leave the Avs with some $ left over to sign another player.
