The friendship of Michael McLeod (one-year extension) and Nathan Bastian (two-year extension) will live on in New Jersey for at least one more season. The Devils organization recently re-signed both of them to small deals. Retaining both of them was imperative because they were crucial as to why the Devils were so successful. It’s important to have decent depth pieces in addition to a good top-six unit.

I'm glad the buds are back. I think they bring an energy to the team there are no stats for.
McLeod was lightning in a bottle during the playoffs. 4th line is gonna be something special and I hope we can give these guys long-term deals down the road.
Bastian was the better option to go in the expansion draft, if McLeod was winning faceoffs in Seattle he might not have been waived. Nate came back we don't know if Mikey would have been able to.
