Canucks talk: does the Marc Staal trade make it easier or harder to trade Loui Eriksson?

Marc Staal was traded from the Rangers to the Red Wings…and his salary is very similar to that of Loui Eriksson. Is a Loui trade possible?

  1. I think sharing the cap would be fine, or give them 2020 third and 2021 third, or add Jake or Stecher. If no possible send him to minors. Big no to buyouts. Then you could keep tanev. Love your channel Clay.

  2. Thanks for answering my question yesterday in AMA!

Regarding sweetener I think we can go as high in value as Gaudette or Virtanen and no further. Hope Gaudette's 10.2c gives incentive, plus he has upside.

If this trade happens with him then I'd be down to try e.g. Lind on 3rd line RW next to Sutter to be playmaker.

  3. Since July 1st 2016 I have gone to bed, kneeled at my bed and prayed to Jesus that when I woke up Loui Eriksson would no longer be a member of my beloved Vancouver Canucks. I have tithed generously at my local congregation, been faithful to the Lord and made this prayer 1550 times, and still he remains. Someone please bless me or teach me how to "pray harder". Beginning to feel my faith slip.

  4. I think if we trade Loui the only sweetener that makes sense as far as what other teams will take and what who the Canucks could afford to give up is Gaudette. I'm hoping his lackluster first playoffs doesn't hurt his value. A trade with Winnipeg may not be out of the question, once Laine is off the books. They need centers. The Canucks might be able to take Brian Little's contract back and keep it on IR because he's likely done. I'm not sure how insured that money is on that contract, but I think it seems fair. Winnipeg definitely isn't just gonna sit on that money, like what happened with Bufuglien.

  5. I'd sit down and talk to Louie and have a serious discussion and tell him he can either go to Utica next season or he can be put on LTIR for the remainder of his 2 years and he see if he would bite!

  6. What if Loui doesn't report to training camp?
I mean, we could always set up a lampoon comedy of errors, decoys, and traps to defer Loui from reporting to Vancouver next season.

  7. When he plays usually responsible defensively.. doesn’t get used in offensive tole too much. So the anger is the amt of money – not really the play. Does prevent an up coming guy from getting ice time but all in all seems ok to play him .. The extra 4.5m is deadweight that would be nice to have for Toffoli.. but doesn’t seem an option

  8. Even though at this point Loi's contract is not that big a deal for other teams that are trying to get up to the cap minimum, he still will cost them a couple of million for a third or forth line player and a bunch of cap room. It make no sense for Benning to do a sweetener so i don't think a deal will get done unless he can sweeten the pot with a young player like Virtanen that he can't afford to sigh any way. Most likely Loui will be suiting up again for the Canucks for the next season if there is one.
