We weren’t going to get much for him. Cap space is so crucial in the NHL, especially for a rebuilding team who needs flexibility. You gotta make this move just to free up 3.6 million in cap space alone. Anyone expecting more for a 31 year old 2nd/3rd line center with 3 years left on his deal clearly doesn’t know how the NHL works. Briere is just doing all he can to fix Fletcher’s mistakes.
Hayes is glorified third line center
Briere got fleeced but that's the issue with salary-capped teams. Sanhiem will go tomorrow – let's hope Briere doesn't pull a 'Ghost' deal – like eating more salary & have to give away good draft picks just to get somebody to take him.
