The NCAA hockey goal of the year deserves a breakdown..
#hockey #nhl #highlights
Rhett Pitlick from the Minnesota Golden Gophers scored one of the nastiest goals I’ve ever seen in NCAA hockey history against the Michigan Wolverines. We break down the goal & more in this video.
The Milano goal is still my favorite, and I'm still a huge fan of the between the legs shot, even though everyone can do it. This is sick though, the combination of pulling 4 moves, plus the defender staying with him until he loses his feet is amazing to watch.
If you're following the puck and not the carrier you have a better chance of getting beaten: take the body– simply the best chance of separating the carrier from the puck.
What a joke! One in a million. I wasn't very good, but my potential coach in junior (I got cut), kept screaming at me to keep moving my feet/keep skating while making moves. I didn't see that at all on this goal and neither with the backchecker. Pfft. Kind of shocking.
Should be entitled "The worst defended NCAA one-on-one rush of the year." … Easy to do circus tricks when they aren't putting you on your ass as they should be doing. Or is body checking practically not allowed in the woke NCAA now?
i'm a pretty big fan of the owen nolan '97 all-star game hatty call out, but i know it's not the most spectacular goal, just a nice glove side high snipe. the interview after is hilarious too, when asked how it felt, Nolan says [about the goalie] "…well he's been killing me all year" and the interviewer says just as calm as you like "He kills a lotta people"
That wasn’t as much a great goal as a total failure on the part of the defence-man! When I learned to play defence decades ago on a one on one situation you played the man not the puck! Real defence-men are scarcer than hen’s teeth in hockey these days heck the NHL gives the Norris to the highest scoring defence-man!
Sure, his head was up but eyes were down. If head was up, why didn't he bring the hit? See this at the NHL level ALL THE TIME NOW TOO! Guys aren't on the ice looking for the big hit like they used to be and it's a shame! A big hit in this situation doesn't even hurt, just dumps you over. Unless you do something shady ,like lead with a Messier elbow as he always did!
Yes, it absolutely deserves a breakdown. This is a video of a terrible defenseman. He couldn't even touch pitlicks stick with his own for a split second. That's all he needed.
Datsyuk, Bure, Forsberg. Tough to pick a single Forsberg goal because he made most of them look pretty easy, so here's one of many highlight compilations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ub-f4-4_Txs&t=19s
-Ovi’s “from his back” -McDavid vs. 4 Rangers -The Michigan(whoever does it) -Alley-oop (Zegras & Milano) -Datsyuk (the Datsyuk) -McDavid vs. 5 Leafs -Travis Konecny on Easter 2018 -Bobby Ryan goal -Tarasenko’s Forsberg play -Blake Coleman one-hander
And kids this is why the best modern defenders hide their stick in their hip pocket (out to the side). Don’t give a player the chance to play inside your triangle.
Well, at full speed, this is challenging from either player’s perspective. It’s a good goal, and at this speed and attack, not much the defender could do.
It’s a great goal. But can’t blame defense here too badly
Love this goal, agree probably one of the best ever. Seamus Casey had a beauty also. My favorite goal all time Cale makar spin around Kirby dach backhand top shelf deked fleury to his knees

greatest college goal ever? Hardly. its good but not that skilled.

Gretzky 1988 Game 2 Smythe Div Final vs Flames would be my nomination
So shit defense while screening his own goalie is goal of the year? LOL BigJoke Conf.
Bad defense. Should have checked him.
Montreal will be sure to crush that creativity and bench him if he shows any individual style.

Shades of Bobby Orr, without the size, or the speed. But thank God he's wearing an NCAA approved helmet. NCAA is worthless, get rid of them.
The defenseman would be great at "Dodgeball, hockey version"! Dodge-puck?
I’d subscribe, but you wont be quiet.
I mean he almost died in November with the virus 🦠
With a name like Pitlick, you better be good at something! Schwwweeeet!
Easier said than done but, defenseman should have just checked him!

Whhhhhhhammy
Body hit in the NHL
Goal of the year or worst defense performance of the the year. Kid should of been laid out.

There's nothing left to say, end of story.

Was the best to chip it in a joke? I hope so but I’m not sure about NA hockey it’s just dump and chase

Datsyuk did things like this in the Pro's. Maybe the first generations of it~
You learn this in novice hockey , never stare at the puck, look at the body!

Lower level players would have done a better defensive job

What the hell kind of backcheck was that on 90? That coach better have reemed both of those players after that play.
