  1. We lack depth on the right D side in the organization. Reinbacher was the best, complete defenceman of this draft so given we are weak at that position and given SMITH was already taken, the best selection for the organization's needs was Reinbacher. He has a heavy shot and skates very well. We are loaded with young talent up front and we got a great group of young players developing together. Ghule with Reinbacher may develop into quite a duo and play big minutes down the road soon. Nothing is assured but give the kid a chance and show that management made a great choice. Barron still needs to polish his defensive game but has solid potential to develop well if we are patient with his progress. Matheson & SAVaRD are our leaders in the back but we also need the others to support & develop. Our depth chart has some good talent moving up the ranks. Hutson has great potential and so does JOSHUA ROY.
Adding Newhook is a step to a positive direction as he surely fits into the style of play. His skills set and speed definitely are a plus. I don't think we should be complaining with Suzuki, CC, Newhook, DAch, Slavkovsky, Monahan & Anderson as our TOp Core Forwards. Gurianov is still not signed but he could be a good addition to the core group. Gallagher may be retained or possibly sent in a trade to shore up cap space ? HOffman as well ?
Some moves will still happen but let's give management a chance to get this ship headed in the right direction. I like the plan they have set. Too bad Price did not have all this talent in front of him during his glory days! GHG!

  2. Im hoping with the 2nd round we can make a early trade, I think we need a little bit more on the RW and with players like Perron, Gauthier still available or even possible a RW conversion for Brindley or Heidt would make me a bit more hopeful but im not gonna lie Perron is my first choice theres alot of skill there and watched him play against Smith line and he does very well and deffs gots some moves.

Hopefully something happens here cause if not im pist if Reinbacher turns out like Makar, Erikson, Josi thats the only way im happy with it but i dont project him like that, just an overall boring pick that will just kinda be there on the team. I given up hope on a true scoring talent like Bedard, Mcdavid, Ect. Hopefully Caufield shows us something next year and can take a hit cause if not im reallly gonna be annoyed

  3. I disagree – this is a draft that included many 17 year olds – some will not pan out and never play in the NHL – it's a an educated gamble. Picking the best defensive player in this draft is not a mistake .. it is a calculated decision that could look good further down the road.

  4. I’m sorry but never compare players watching Highlights tf type of analysis is that… if that’s how you scout and analyze a player pls don’t make any mock draft videos because it will just be a waste of time you need to actually watch them play and then you can fully analyze how a player actually plays.

  5. remember that most of the time, they do trade like 1d-man for 2f-man these day…so if we really need some foward, there are plenty to trade in that ligue

  6. I have nothing against Reinbacher. He'll probably be a good Dman with the habs. I just feel sorry for the kid, he didn't decide to be chosen at 5. The habs fanbase is not very forgiving and even if he is a decent Dman, I feel that for the next decade the fanbase will consider him like the guy that was picked over Michkov instead of being his own thing. Let's hope he breaks free of this image or else the pressure on his shoulders will be unbearable.

  7. I disagree. Right D is hard to find. Michkov is fantastic. Everyone talks about talent. What is more valuable? A second line winger (or potentially 1st) or a player who can play all minutes on D.

Why do D have a such a high trade value? Other than a 1C, D are super hard to find. Montreal is now stacked in D prospects. Can now Montreal not trade one of these studs for a C or D or a Goalie – of course they can. Trust the process and the very talented people there. At the end of the day, its a draft.

I think you will eat your words.

  8. People probably have never seen a full game by any of these prospects yet they are now a pro, and know whose going to be a boom or bust

  9. We had Robinson Savard and Lapointe and 5 Cups. Nobody could
penetrate or intimidate these men. This will be the best group of D we will have since the 1970s.

  10. great pick glad didnt get micklov if they did would not be a habs fan any more after 68 years cant believe they allow russians to be picked at the draft ps they dont let them play in the world tournament da da wake up people

  11. You say they should of moved down, but for what? What do you think teams are willing to give up to move up a few spots? You make it sound so easy. Do you consider they might have tried to move down but couldn't find the right deal. There are TWO sides to a trade.

  12. Great move for the Habs ; You know what ?! Last year when they got Lane Hutson, I was like, wtf ??? Who is this guy, not long after that, I realized how great he was… Just saying, they know alot more than us fans, so picking up the best defenseman available in the draft is surely not a bad move in my pov !

  13. RHD are hard to find actually, and scoring wingers arent that hard to find. Just this year, Debrincat is on the market, Johnny Gaudreau last year, etc. Getting a solid D is a good thing, having someone feed your offensive players and shutting down the opposition wins championships. I think this kid is going to be great, he was rated 8th overall to 20th overall, its a slight reach but not by a lot. Michkov was apparently very interested in playing in Philly from what I read.

I personally would of went for Leonard, I like his style of play. But I'm not surprised they went for the best D in the draft, plus he is RH which is VERY valuable in the league. Let him time to develop, and who knows he can make other guys on our team elevate their game. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays 20+ mins and quarterbacks our 1st PP unit in 2-3 years, and MTL will have one of the best D-core in the league.

    Have some faith! Go habs

  14. I agree that it was disappointing not to see Mitchkov called at 5 but to say Reinbacher's ceiling is a 3-4 D is disingenuous. He was just dominant in a #1 role in one of the top-5 leagues in the world. His ceiling is a #1 D what's debatable is his chances of getting there.

  15. Haven’t had a point per game player in like 30yrs. Habs get the chance to draft one and they draft a Dman that won’t even be better than Guhle. It just makes no sense to me

  16. I think people are too hard on Reinbacher. You have to realize that he is a right defenseman which is the position we need most and he is good offensively and defensively. I'm not saying its gonna happen but Seider was in a similar situation. Were people thought that it was a bad pick at 6 and he ended up winning the calder. Im not saying this is gonna be the same for Reinbacher but it is a possibility.

  17. Slaf then Reinbacher – but don't forget Jesperi K., too. Reaching for some reason. Smartest guy in the room syndrome.

  18. Reinbacher seems like a gentleman dman. Tactical D, getting the puck out, covering the zone and player. IMO, I think he's gonna do well. He's a good kid. If he plays like his idol Josi, it's gonna be interesting.
