This Is NOT What We Expected…

Kirk Day and Noah Byrne take a look at the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft and the picks that were made. There were some CRAZY reaches in this first round, as well as some players who slipped further than where they were projected to go. All the way from the second overall pick where the Anaheim Ducks chose Leo Carlsson OVER Adam Fantilli, to the Toronto Maple Leafs take Easton Cowan at 28th overall who was originally projected to go in the second to third round of this draft. The big one that we all were unsure of where they may go Matvei Michkov, the former projected second overall pick, slips down to the seventh overall pick and is headed to the Philadelphia Flyers who are ecstatic to get him at this pick.

  1. If you think that Leo is the guy, why not trade with CBJ one pick later? CBJ was going to pick Will Smith over Carlsson so you know if they traded their 3 to move up, you would get your guy at 3 plus other assets.
