@Colorado Avalanche

This is the only hockey player close to Connor McDavid.

Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid and Colorado Avalanache’s Nathan MacKinnon will forever be compared as they are two of the most dynamic skaters in the NHL. Although McDavid is in a league of his own.. we break down how Nathan MacKinnon & Connor McDavid attack the game in a VERY similar fashion with their skating.

  1. I've been saying it for the last 3 years or so, if MacKinnon could just go a full season without getting hurt, he'd come in 2nd to McDavid in pts.

  2. As an individual player, nobody can touch McDavid but there’s not much proof, I don’t think, that he has the intangibles that MacKinnon has.

  3. Mcdavid is the best player in the world overall. That being said, Mackinnon is able to really take his game to another level in the playoffs. So much so that he out performs Mcdavid.

Really hoping we get to see these two go at it again in another playoff series this year!

  4. Close to Connor mcdavid??? Lmfao this guy isn’t even In the facinity Of Connor.. this is like comparing a row boat to a battle ship..

  5. No need to even compare..these two boys and sid the kid on a line beats any and all other 3 line combos

  6. Until this year I would have picke Mackinnon. Mcdavid use to look for the pass too much. Now he’s shouting.

    Mcdavid.

  7. they both bring top end dynamic speed and skills but lil bit better in certain aspects. Mcd is slightly better in playmaking and agility. But Mackinnon is more imposing physically , moves like a freight train, and he's gotta a mean tantrum to go with it.

  8. If I were a player I’d go with McKinnon as a teammate tbh. Not quite as flashy but plays hard in all areas of the game and he never cheats

  9. Now have both of them stand next to their Stanley Cups. If MacKinnon had to carry his team like McDavid did would he be the same. I loved how McDavid averaged 1 goal in four games against the Avs last year, and Makar robbed him skating backwards. McDavid is a great player, but he is one of two stars on the Oilers.

  10. Nice vid … I’d really have to flip a coin as to picking Mac or “ Mic “ both those boys bring it

  11. McDavid. Not taking anything away from MacKinnon but seriously there is no doubt that McDavid is the one you want to tie the game or win it in overtime. Both are amazing hockey players.

  12. No Nathan isn’t close to Conner McKinnon needs to be more consistent where was Nathan at the beginning of the season Conner is dangerous from game 1 to game 82 Nathan only picked it up in January

  13. As a hockey fan, the pragmatic choice is McDavid, but Nate has an endless list of clutch game winners. I've seen it for myself so many times.
McDavid is a PP monster and 3 on 3 OT, but in even strength with less room, I have to go with Nate. He's a proven clutch winner.

  14. I would say MacKinnon is the third best player in the league.
    2nd best? Draisaitl.

  15. I honestly think the "best player in the world" tag is more up for debate than people give credit for. Don't get me wrong, McDavid is absolutely incredible especially this season collecting over 150 points and he probably is the best player in the world, but MacKinnon is a lot closer than people think, in my opinion, and is the best playoff performer by far. He has 93 points in 70 games and has never been in a playoff run where he has collected less than 1 point per game(his lowest playoff total was 6 points in 6 games back in 17-18). Also, at even strength, nobody has been better than MacKinnon this year since Jan. 1. Mackinnon has 53 points at even strength since Jan. 1(after he returned from injury), 7 points more than Pastrnak in second(12 more than McDavid who is in fifth).

Again, like I said, I'm in no way saying McDavid isn't a phenomenal player and after the season he's having this year, right now he definitely is the best player in the world. This also ties into my belief that the best player in the world doesn't need to be the MVP every year. The Ted Lindsay exists for the league's most exceptional player, and sure, give that to McDavid every year if you want, but I don't believe that just because McDavid is the "best player in the world" means he deserves the Hart every year. This year he for sure deserves the Hart, no questions asked.

Am I still salty MacKinnon lost the Hart he should have won a few years back to Taylor Hall? Absolutely. That was garbage and he should have won it that year(or the next year when MacKinnon fulfilled the same criteria that Hall used to win his). Regardless, I am just happy that I am fortunate enough to get to watch so many amazing hockey players in my lifetime. Gonna be some incredible years coming up!

  16. Good analysis. If I had a choice to take either into game 7 with a minute left to make a difference, I already like my chances. That being said, I'd take McKinnon simply because of his experience deep in the playoffs.
