Well we got some experienced defenseman which makes me happy, and DON'T forget about Devon Levi, I'm really interested to see how he performs
I think we should trade Olofsson, Bryson, and Jokiharju. I can go into my opinions on that if someone wants me too. I think we are looking for a veteran forward. Hellebuyck would be a dream landing and we would be set at goaltending.
As a hockey fan I'm always excited for the upcoming season. As a Sabres fan I can hardly wait to drop the puck. Such tremendous progress. The way it ended the season before last, I was super excited during the offseason, and it was justified. This year I'm excited to see just how far these kids can go! My one concern has nothing to do with our team. It's everyone else. You have Tampa & Boston who have been perenial fixtures on top of the Atlantic, and although aging, I don't exactly expect them to collapse. You have Florida who may or may not keep up the same pace this season. Toronto who keeps themselves into the mix (although I wonder if and when the frustrations of never getting oer the hump starts to get at their core guys, even with the win in the 1st) then you got the 2 NY markets & NJ in the Metro, Pittsburgh may bounce back, back in the Atlantic, Ottawa & Detroit might take big steps. The East is going to be crazy to watch. It usually is, but still.

Buffalo has so much young skill. Owen Power is going to be a serious problem for the league sooner than later. Same goes for the rest of this roster. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them back in the playoffs next year
I doubt Comrie is still in Buffalo by camp.
Buffalo needs a veteran forward and a veteran goaltender
I think Buffalo should only be looking to add if they want a rental in the middle of the season. With Dahlin and Power needing contracts next year and Quinn and Peterka up the year after any long contract now could lose them a big asset in the future. The team was the youngest in the league last year and was in the hunt for playoffs until the bitter end, so with their additions on defense I expect them to break the streak this year and at least get a taste of the playoffs.
Lucic is back in the Atlantic, so who knows.

If Greenway plays more minutes than the 14 he played last year the team will not make the playoffs, he’s the coaches Son so he will get top treatment. Hoping he sprains his angle a lot. Peterka with Cozens was dynamic but unfortunately Quinn is out for more than half of the season. Rousek should play in his spot but of course the giant sloth Greenway who gives a terrible effort will get preferential treatment.

Anyone who says Buffalo has too many defensemen is crazy!!! We would have made it to cup finals in 2005-06 season except we had lost 4 starting D men to injury and loser cheap GM Darcy picked up zero for playoffs, we had rookies playing first NHL games in game 6 and 7 vs Canes!
The Duck used 12 D men the year they won the cup after the trade deadline.
The 1991 Penguin won the cup even losing 4 starting D men in playoffs…they picked up extra backups at deadline!

I remember their teams in 2006 and 2007. When this team is good they have the best crowd in the league.

Hopefully someone teaches them how to win faceoffs better than 32nd Best for a third straight year. Several on Granato’s staff needed changing up, imo.
Pushing for a spot will be a challenge for the kids, and even guys like Okposo who haven’t experienced that in awhile. But watching them respond in games like Rick Jeanneret’s final broadcast or Eichel’s first game back etc. gave them a tiny taste of winning under some pressure.
Could see them package some assets for a big name goalie like Hellebuyck. E.g. some combo of Olofsson, Krebs/ Jost and some D depth plus a 1st (goalies rarely net more than a 1st so that should be plenty)
Buffalo is a fun Team. If there isn't an Avs game on, Buffalo is an exciting watch 💪🏻
They could definitely use another goaltender to take some pressure off of Levi. It’s tough though considering the upcoming RFA’s next summer. Whether they add a goalie or not, I’m still expecting playoffs.
Speaking of the Sabers, how about doing 'The Career of Alexei Zhitnik.' One of my favorite defensemen who i modeled when i was a kid.
The Atlantic division is so hard to predict. I believe the Sabres are a top 5 team in the division but whether that's enough probably won't be clear until the All-star game
I don't see a trade out of D-men personally. I think it gets sorted out at training camp and on the waiver wire

The Sabres need only improve their dismal home record. If they would have went .500 at home, they would have been in the playoffs last year. Expecting big things this year, but in truth they have not done it yet. Love the mix of players, hoping for Gibson to shore up the goal.

They lost Malcolm Subban, their #1 goalie in Rochester to the Blues. They resigned their backup in Rochester – Michael Houser. So there may be a logjam at goalie in Rochester for the Sabres…
They are going to win the cup in the next 5 years. Possibly more than once, too.
I have a feeling that Buffalo’s gonna pull off a trade that brings them either Hellebyuck or Gibson to the team. If it’s Hellebyuck, it’s not a question of if they make playoffs or not, the question becomes will they make it to the Conference Finals this upcoming season?

I agree they should not be done trading players defensively yet. Honestly I'd like to trade maybe bryson/ luukonen or comrie for some more ahl ready prospects on defense. I Still feel we need more depth there In rochester to develope. Also perhaps depending on who they play (if they are all healthy) I'd want lyubushkin in there if needing grit and jokiharu in there for offensive production.
The Atlantic is gonna be murderers row this season. The only bad team is Montreal. This is the season I think we'll see 5 Atlantic teams in the playoffs.

If any D men are gonna be put out as trade bait, it's gonna be Bryson and Joki. Bryson has a tendency to be a traffic cone and Jokis play style is too much like power and ras to keep him in the top 4.

As a Sabres fan and a Buffalo native. I feel the Sabres have a very good shot this coming season at making the playoffs and if they do they will be a scary team to play against. Playoff Buffalo is a scary thing for many teams.
