  1. Lovely video, well put together. Just a note, you mentioned that Chabot does pretty much everything for the Sens blue line. One of the aspects of his game that he does not do for the Sens is actually his play in his own zone. He's not exactly a stats darling when it comes to defensive play, he tends to lean heavily on his partner to help him out. We're hoping that will be something that he improves with experience and fewer minutes per game.

By the way, that "eh" at the end was very west coast, are you from B.C.?

  2. people only love looking at advanced stats and dont bother watching chabot play. He is a stud no if ands or buts.

  3. Considering Justin faulk and torey krug are each at 6.5, Doug armstrong played his cards well.

  4. chabot's deal, like makar and miro's were rfa deals. these were deals that were buying out remaining rfa years and maybe a year or two of ufa status if their respective teams were lucky enough. jones, pietrangelo, and hamilton were all ufa deals, hence the higher aav. chabot's deal should be compared to jones' current rfa deal which ends after this season, where chabot makes 8 to jones' 5.4. or chabot's deal to makar or miro's new extensions since they are more recent. this would be a more accurate comparison to go off of.

  5. This is a nothing video. These contracts are wholly dependent upon when they were signed. Any top paring number 1 defender signed this offseason will get around 9 million as that's the market. You don't have to like it but that is how it is.

  6. Both Seth Jones and Darnell are 26 yrs old. Nurse isn't 27 until next year. Capfriendly with some false info eh

  7. lego i watched every game Braanstrom played this year and i think you might be overrating him

  8. To be honest, at first, when the Sens sign Thomas Chabot 8 years for 64 M$ 8 M$/ year on the Cap. I tought the Sens Lost it ! The guy did have only One good year so i believe that they can have him for much less another 2-3 year before the big contract came but the latest contract for Top D-Man in the NHL are out this world. But for me the Jeff Petry at 6,25 M$ is the real steal here. Of Course Chabot is great and still young (24) while Petry is already 33 going 38 at the end on his contract.

  9. Let this kick in Thomas Chabot is putting up Norris trophy numbers on one of the bottom teams… I think he deserves to be in the conversation of best defenseman in the league.

  10. I love your content.
    100% Chabot is a steal.
I remember in the World Juniors he had 40 minute nights. He has to win a Norris one day.

Nurse will still get better, and Bouchard will be his future Partner.
If the Oilers keep Nurse and have success, maybe McD and Draisaitl stay.

    Also –

People said the same thing about Draisaitl contract, yet look at him. He's a franchise Player with or without McD.

Compare his contract to the Predators.
Johansen and Duchene are both locked it at comparative numbers. Have gone nowhere. And we're both exposed in expansion draft.
