Bellemare may not have won a cup but he’s been a major contributor on two Stanley Cup Finals teams and a Presidents Trophy winning team as well. Best of all his contract is league minimum and adds needed veteran competition for all the Coachella Valley boys vying for that 4th line center spot.
Love Will Borgen and love that contract although I would have loved even more term at a comparable AAV such is my faith in Matty’s roommate. He’s so dependable and rose to the challenge of much increased ice time in year 2 as a Kraken.
I had hoped they would improve on Borgen in their top 4. He is high effort, makes pretty good decisions but isn't really a threat to score, assist, or even block a lot of shots. They brought in another defense only D-liner and got rid of Soucy, who I won't miss, but at least he had a season where he was a threat to do one of those things. Overall we are paying more for a less dynamic D-line roster then we had before, not exciting. The pairing of an offensive D with a defensive D like Larsson and Dunn only works if you have at least 3 offensive D-liners.
