  1. aquilini is filling the arena with a middle of the pack team that will never make the playoffs. this is dollars and cents to him, nothing more. and if he can get 2 home playoff games a year, he will be quite happy with that.

  2. Didn’t Rutherford win some cups? The Canucks are literally one of the best teams for scoring in the conference. No demko this year, they need to build their defence. It’s a good trade.

  3. 3 Russians on the canucks all have the same agent. Melstein. There's a defensive dman who's agent is melstein, gavrikov. Not saying he signs here but…
    Hughes-bear/schenn/??
    Gavrikov-Hronek
    Oel-bear/schenn
    Looks pretty decent to me

  4. The draft is full of forwards and where that pick could land they probably think that they would rather have a RHD that's a guarantee. The team needs d men and if the draft is going to be full of forwards, maybe its good they trades it away. They have a good forward group and Lekkerimaki from the last draft and decent goaltending. The defence is the only thing that needs attention and they just added a top 4 RHD. I think as of now, this is a playoff team. They need some more help, but expect this team to be in the playoffs next year.

  5. Im stumped trying to think of Canucks drafted beyond 15th overall that have made major NHL impacts….. I can think of 3
    Boeser
    Demko
    Mccan not on the team
Others like Hoglander have hit the NHL in spurts. Of these players only Demko I feel is better than Hronek turned out…..
I can think of 2 very high picks in Juolevi and Virtanin that were out right busts for draft picks made by the Canucks…

Why do fans think those 2 draft picks the Canucks traded are the next 2 Mcdavids?

  6. Ya you are talking about the difference between a retool (soft rebuild) and rebuild. Stevey Y is half way through his rebuild and the fact that their major competition to make it into the wild card beat them like a rented mule in back to back games (the Senns) sealed the deal for Stevey Y. He knows now that the wings are very unlikely to get the playoff experience for his young players that he hoped they would get this year, so why not sell those obsolete players off in a really good draft year and try to shorten his rebuild by a year or two. Smart move. For the Canucks their young stars Hughes, Peterson, and Demko need the support to make it into the playoffs now. This is a great trade for both teams. Detroit already has the replacement for Hronek right now he is called Moritz Sieder. How can people not see that Detroit is doing a long rebuild and they are getting rid of players that are not part of their rebuild plans going forward. This is not that complicated to figure out, it ain't rocket science after all. Larkin would be gone too if he wasn't a player that could really be a difference maker in training all the kids coming up. By the time the Wings are challenging for the cup Larkin will most likely be gone.

  7. 1) Franchise Goalie 27
    2) Franchise Dman 23
    3) Franchise Center 24

    So you draft a dman with the NYI 1st rd pick… he plays when? 22, 23, 24? That's 4,5,6 years from now…

  8. Totally WRONG about Hronek being a top Dman. Wallman and Matta are both better. Hronek is a low end Dman who can score occasionally. What you’re seeing in Detroit is Holland’s draft picks failing to live up to expectations and being moved.

  9. Bertuzzi is UFA this off season. Yzerman did what any other gm in the league would have done. Ease up on the praise. Detroit is still a non playoff team.

  10. His team is not making playoff spot. That is te reasn why he traded Hronek, good for us Canucks fans. It take five years before draft picks play top NHL hockey. Just look at Baffalo 10 years in rebuild.

  11. I’m sorry but you guys simply don’t know puck lol. Detroit is not good and was 100% going to be sellers. Bert wasn’t re signing and Hronek is a year removed from needing a huge payday. Detroit isn’t trying to win this year or next, it’s a rebuild. Their high end prospects aren’t even ready yet. This was master class lol. Canucks traded a top 16 pick in a loaded draft for a good puck moving 2RHD lol. Just wait till he’s asking for 7 next season. Sincerely not a wings fan just have a brain
