  1. In regards to analytics, I always go back to a quote a coach I used to work for liked to use, "stats are like a pretty girl in a bikini – what they reveal is nice, but what they conceal is vital." What they have done with these moves is exactly what C-Mac said they needed to do, they got grittier. Keep this in mind as well, they're not just replacing E-Rod, Compher, Newhook, etc, they're also trying to replace Landy by committee. Wood, Colton, and Johansen all bring a healthy dose of nastiness to their game that was sorely lacking in last year's roster. And Drouin has been producing points the last few years, just not scoring goals at the rate you would like. Given his issues with mental health and what he had to deal with in the Montreal media, I would expect him to find some relative peace here and just be able to play hockey. Obviously having a good friend like MacK on the team and pushing him in his own way to be a better player should help him out as well.

  2. Evan Rodrigues's stats have to be viewed in light of who he routinely got to play with – – Mackinnon, Rantanen, Makar, and Toews plus power play opportunities. Despite that he only had 39 points. While Compher had 52 points without the luxury of powerplay and superstar linemates. For whom much is given, much is expected. I bet if Drouin gets to play with Mackinnon, Rantanen, Makar and Toews routinely, he will easily exceed Erod's production. Furthermore the ceiling for Drouin is much higher than Erod's.
