Should we have even wanted DeBrincat at $7.85M AAV? We have a way less expensive version of him at home.

Ohh come on. No one can possibly think Wahlstrom is anywhere near his level.

Fun statistics fact: Data is useless if you don’t interpret it. What does all this mean?

  3. optional-email

Wahlstrom has a lot of potential but he has also been known to take bad penalties and make himself a defensive liability

Not fucking up is at least as important as actually doing good things. That is a major reason DeBrincat is a $7.5MM player and Wahlstrom … isn’t, yet

Hahahaha. Oh wait, you’re serious? Let me laugh even harder. HAHAHAHAHA

Wahlstrom has 32 career goals at age 23.. DeBrincat is only two years older and has 187 already.. They’re not even in the same realm.

I think Holmstrom looked significantly better then Whalstrom last year.

I for one am not ready to give up on Wally, but DeBrincat doesn’t need time to develop, he’s already a goal scorer.

Can’t score if you’re not on the ice.

Wahlstrom is one subpar season away from busting out of the Islanders and possibly the NHL entirely, coming off a serious knee injury no less. Also, just IMO, one of the lowest hockey-IQ guys I’ve seen in recent memory. He has a great shot, needs to create more space for himself to use it though. I hope he’s able to put it together because that would be huge for us, but I’m not exactly banking on it.

The sample size from Wahlstrom, in my opinion, doesn’t make this comparison 100% valid. Wahlstrom has also not 100% proven himself, and I don’t think he will in the current system we have on the Island.

Let wally cook man the guy missed a whole season

A 2x 40 goal scorer is just like our underperforming prospect that we’ll be lucky to get 18 out of lmao.

-Wahlstrom has 12 goals in 50 career ahl games.
-Had 8 goals in 36 games at Boston U.
-Had 32 goals in 161 games in the nhl.
    -Has been benched numerous times.
-Is coming off a major injury.
-Is about to be 24 years old in his 5th nhl season.
-Can’t hold down top line minutes on a team full of non-skilled wingers

Why does anyone think he is the guy. He hasn’t been a consistent goal scorer anywhere since he was like 16 years old
