I think they should risk it and keep him until his contract expires. He performed well in the playoffs when the other guys didn't. They should focus on resigning Matthews before free agency and make space for Nylander next year after Bertuzzi and Domi's contracts expire. This leaves 8.5 million extra cap space to decide.
It doesn't seem like the TML is interested to pay Nylander the amount he's asking for. If they really wanted to pay Nylander what he wants, they wouldn't have signed Bertuzzi and Domi. There's enough salary cap to cover the other 3 of the Core 4. 🇨🇦🍁🏒👍
