  1. The Leafs don't mind seeing other teams draft good players at all.

  2. You can’t exactly blame the canes for the leafs being stupid with their cap space. Sure, you can blame the canes for using their cap space as a weapon eventually acquire Jarvis, and also eventually KK. I have said it before and I will say it again. If you have cap space in this cap era, you hold the power. But for Jarvis, I for one am extremely excited for his debut in the NHL. I also find it a bit ironic that NYR a won the lottery because the canes swept them in the qualifying round, making it so that the canes would be assured that they get Toronto’s first round pick.

  3. One correction. Marleau’s buyout was 1 year. He signed an over 35 deal. Issue was it didn’t lower the cap hit

  4. The. Leafs have some of the deepest pocket in the NHL but you can't buy playoff success… Karma baby

  5. A detail that got lost in this was another old guy and his involvement. Justin Williams had just retired and the Hurricanes wanted a replacement. Tom Dundon and Don Waddell said to themselves, ‘Hey, we’re already going to be paying Patty his salary, why not try and get him on board?’ Obviously he left for San Jose but that five day period before getting bought out was a lot longer than most people thought. The Hurricanes really wanted Marleau to play for them and Marleau himself probably gave the idea some thought. I love what if’s and this one isn’t a big consequential one, but it is fascinating.

  6. he's seth "freaking" jarvis!! i was really hoping jarvis slid to the hawks at #17 (reichel isn't a bad consolation prize though). i think jarvis is going to be a good one.
