Alex DeBrincat was ALWAYS Coming to the Detroit Red Wings

Neal Ruhl and Lindsey Hunter discuss the Detroit Red Wings splash trade involving Alex DeBrincat and the Ottawa Senators. DeBrincat is a premium goal scorer, something the Wings needed. While many fans were beginning to question Steve Yzerman, he delivered big and for a small price. Neal was always consistent in saying that this trade was going to happen and his reasoning makes sense. Like, Subscribe and leave your comment below!

  1. Im a 80s baby and have watched the red wings my whole life, I dont remember hearing complaints growing up people just need to educate themself

  2. If Boston Bruins play poorly next year and end up picking in the top 10, then they retain the pick. Then the Red Wings don't have a 1st round pick, because Ottawa would get the Red Wings pick.

  3. DeBrincat wanted to be a Wing, pretty simple. He was willing to work with Yzerman to get it done, and if he performs he will retire a Wing. It sucks for these kids, they work years to get to the NHL, if you're good you get drafted by a bad team. Alex and his wife had a chance to come home and they made the right choice for themselves. Welcome home.

  4. DCat makes Larks a 1C. You can’t be regarded as a 1C when you CARRY the line 80%+. You end up looking like you’re not that guy. Now everyone will begin to see what Larks can do.

  5. Been telling people since March The Cat was coming home "this year"….granted I pegged it as a 2024 Deadline Buy and not a 2023 Off Season move, either way I always knew the kid was coming back to hockey town. Stevie Y never misses his guy and there were rumours before last season that DaBrincat was on his radar and that he wanted to come to the Wings, the Wings were in on him when Chicago was looking to unload him, but Ottawa offered a ridiculous package to get him and Stevie Y rightfully bided his time.

  6. If Larkin plays with the same intensity as last season with Debrincat to score and Perron getting pucks in corners… unstoppable

  7. Glad to hear he is and was always coming to Detroit. We need a 40+ goal scorer. Hope he can do it here.

  8. Most GM's would have given into the demands that Ottawa or Debrincat's agent were asking for after July 1st, especially considering the media firestorm that started when a deal wasn't made. Yzerman knew he held aces when everyone else was bluffing. Trust in Yzerman people.

  9. Larkin has NEVER had a goal scorer on his wing. He was always more playmaker than goal-scorer as well. I am excited to see what having someone like ADB on his line will do for him. Is it enough to push Larkin up to a 90 point season? We honestly don't know because we've never seen Larkin play with someone of equal skill (minus Captain Z in his last year).

  10. The 1st rd pick yes we get to choose, HOWEVER*** if for some reason Boston’s pick is in the Top 10 Boston has the rights to it and then we would get Bostons 1st round pick the following year in 2025.

  11. i don't give the doubters any pass at all. STEVIE Y BABY. YZERPLAN 1919!!!

  12. Neal, Boston's pick is top 10 protected by Boston. So S.Y doesn't have everything in his own hands "in case" something major unexpected happens with B's. Should the "if" happen to Boston this year, it's their 1st pick for 2025 that applies. So let's all hope that the B's have a completely normal season like last year and don't go down like a house of cards. BTW: We can require a little background work because it's not that difficult since google is the shit.

Also the RW's 4th pick in the Cat's deal was their own according to capfriendly, which is exciting as RW has Dallas' 4th pick in the same year. One interpretation that can be made here, is that S.Y and Co consider it a bigger risk that Dallas falls down "lets hope" like a house of cards. and not RW 😛

  13. As it stands, Yzerman comes out looking like a genius (again) with this trade. The picks will be the biggest question mark, but only time will tell if those swing the trade in the Sens' favor, or at least even it out. Kubalik hurts a bit, but better than say Berggren going. Sebrango was never gonna be a main stay with the Wings. And something i feel is getting over looked is the contract. Not just signing him for under 8m, but making it to where the first 3 years are the top heavy numbers wise, and the 4th year is less, so IF he struggles, it's movable. Also, dig the Yami shirt xD

  14. This is not a playoff year, I'd say this is a push for the playoff year. Buffalo smashed us all year and I'd say their team development is either at the same level as us if not better and they didn't make the playoffs, the Sens did not make the playoffs. I'd say Detroit is making more necessary moves but unless the West dominates Detroit is not making the wildcard let alone the division unless something happens at trade deadline where we get another big name. IMO this is a production accountability year. The Lalonde system is ready to be tested. IF key players can stay healthy(Fabbri, Rasmussen) then maybe playoffs. If that core youth of 25-30yr olds can help unlock the offense then it'll be all smooth sailing cuz alot if those FA signings have alot of subpar goal numbers. big time accountability year for Raymond, Berggren, Rasmussen, Copp, Perron even. I love Veleno but they'll never five him the ice time above 3rd line. If one to 3 of these FA signings will stick around(Sprong, Kostin, Compher) then the rookies will undoubtedly fill the gaps no problem. (Edvinsson, Mazur, Cossa, Augustine, Lombardi, Kasper, Wallinder, Johannson, Soderblom, Danielson, ASP) Improvements this year? Absolutely. Playoffs? Not in my book, and I don't think Yzerman or the team should be discredited if they don't make it either. Progress is never immediate and slow but it's necessary for the long game.

  15. I’m glad I never doubted Stevey. I’ve liked almost every move so far. Only signing I wasn’t a fan of was Holl. Only because I feel there were better options available. I don’t understand the Compher hate, clearly people only the points they produce.

  16. Of course expectations are playoffs and we definitely have a good enough team to get there. But if we don’t there is no reason people should be pissed (as long as we don’t miss by more than 6-8 pts). The Atlantic division is stacked. Panthers, Lightning, Leafs, Sabres, Bruins are all better than the Wings. Plus Ottawa is about equal to us. Not to mention the wildcard spots fighting with Pitt, Isles. As long as we break 90 pts, I will be happy.
