For those who don’t sub, his lines were:

    Perron – Larkin – DeBrincat

    Rasmussen – Copp – Raymond

    Fabbri – Compher – Fischer

    Berggren – Veleno – Sprong

    Kostin – Luff

    Walman – Seider

    Chiarot – Holl

    Maatta – Gostisbhere

    Lindstrom

    PP units

    Perron

    DeBrincat – Larkin – Raymond

    Seider

    Rasmussen

    Sprong – Fabbri – Berggren

    Gostisbhere

We’re a true second pairing away from being able to compete with the big boys. But we should be playing meaningful games in early April at the very least for the first time in 10 seasons. That’s exciting in itself.

Once Holl and Chariot are on the third pairing and Edvisson and hopefully Wallinder/Johansson take the steps to be true high end top 4 well be able to really expect deep playoff runs

Is Koatin really a healthy scratch guy?

If so, that’s great and a major shift in team depth. Maybe it depends on Fabbri’s knees to start the season.

If totally healthy, Fabbri > Kostin, but the question is health.

  5. MiStrong

Bergrenn is not fourth line and kostin>Fischer

  6. Flowsnice

Berggren on the fourth line makes no sense

  7. Flowsnice

And why do we keep counting on Fabbri like he’s going to be healthy and stay healthy?

I really disagree with this projected lineup. This is what I’m pretty confident will happen:

    DeBrincat – Larkin – Raymond

    Rasmussen – Compher – Perron

    Berrgren – Copp – Sprong

    Kostin – Veleno – Fabbri

I don’t see a world where Fischer forces Kostin to be a healthy scratch.

Well if we know anything these lines wouldn’t last more than 3 games the way lalonde had them in the blender last season. Hopefully less injuries and more consistent play can keep lines together longer to get a bit of chemistry going and really show some results and growth. My only real argument for Raymond over perron or even sprong to play with Larkin and Cat is that he’ll be here in a year where I see perron a deadline trade pieces.

Here’s how I think I would start it:

    Rasmussen – Larkin – Debrincat

    Perron – Copp – Raymond

    Kostin – Compher – Fischer

    Berggren – Veleno – Sprong

    —–

    Walman – Seider

    Chariot – Holl

    Matta – Gostisbhere

    —–

    Fabbri | Lindstrom | Luff

    —–

As Max pointed out Larkin can’t be the one forechecking on the first line, and Raymond isn’t a forechecker either. I think Rasmussen is the perfect fit here. He is a great forechecker and strong along the boards.

Raymond needs someone to distribute the puck to, and Perron is the perfect choice here. Perron is strong along the boards and Copp is a very good two way center who’ll compliment them well.

The third line is a straight-up checking line. I have Compher here for the right-hand defensive draws.

I mean let’s not lose sight of the real win here, that the games will be so much more fun to watch this year. Oh, this is an excellent article though, as usual from Max.

    Mine would be

    Ras-Larkin-ADB

    Perron-Compher-Raymond

    Berg-Copp-Sprong

    Kostin-Veleno-Fischer

    I’d tinker though a bit. I wouldn’t mind trying a couple combos

  13. Caboose119z

    I actually like a Cat-Lark-DP line.

I’d switch Raymond and Fischer though. I think a scoring Fabs-JT-Razor line and a checking Ras-Copp-Fish line work better, even if the lineup is slightly less balanced. I don’t disagree with his logic on the 4th line at all.

  14. fakewang

Has anyone heard anything about Pius Suter? He seems like he’d be a valuable bottom 6 guy, even with all the additions at forward, but I haven’t seen him in any lineup projections lately.

  15. PineapplePhil

I’m not crazy about Max’s projection. I think that not only is playing with Debrincat and Larkin important for Raymond’s development, not only is Perron not really good enough to play on the top line, but I think Raymond’s innate playmaking instincts will be invaluable for maximizing Debrincat as a player.

Also, Chiarot and Holl together….on the second pair!? That’s easily going to cost us like three points on its own in the overall standings.

  16. Empty_Lemon_3939

Veleno needs to work on his faceoffs if he wants to stay at 4C.

    You can’t be 4C and have a 42% average.

Really makes you question moving on from Glenny. Like he was getting up there in age but he posted a 58% FO with the Bolts last year

  17. Jesusberg

I have a few of my own preferences that differ from Max’s lines, but mostly I do not want to see a Chiarot-Holl pairing. On paper anyway, it just looks like a straight-up bad time.
