Interesting that it took the 2nd newest team of 32 to get this done. One more area where Vegas has actually earned their stay. What the hell do the other owners GMs do all year to let something like this slip? I thought it was such a given I never questioned it so maybe they did? Idk

according to cap friendly website Rangers have 6.1 million cap space whereas Toronto has a negative 8.9 million as of today
Doesn't surprise me about the engraving of the cup.
What i don't get is why they flatten the rings when it goes to the hhof, I would just make new cups with the removed rings.
BMO field is gonna go through another reno because it will be one of the stadiums used for the 2026 world cup.

About Reinbacher, I think the hate came from the rumour that Kent Hugues said no to a trade with Nashville where the Preds would've get the 5th overall pick in exchange for Askarov and their first 2 picks of the draft (a late first and early second) and Mtl fans think this would've been better than Reinbacher
1892 was when the first Stanley Cup was Presented it took this long to figure this out. Scary no one thought of engraving the names , all I can say is WOW !!!!

Did they have to wait longer for the engraving? I remember when the avs won Landescog got the cup the following day and it was shipped to a neighbor accidently. They only have the summer with the cup and im guessing theyve waited this long? The engraving is a 2nd party. I think if you have a person following you everywhere with a cup shaped box people will trust that you won the cup.
The fact that Tarasenko wanted to stay with the Rangers while Drury signed a bunch of rock-heads makes me want to throw up as a Rangers fan.
How long does engraving take? No big deal. People hate change.
There's a two-year Euro escape clause in Reinbacher's contract. I'd expect him to play in Switzerland next year, and in the AHL the year after.
A bit late, but it's one of those ideas where "we didn't think this idea exist before, but should have." It's one of those ideas where no fan or player or execs have ever thought of, so props for Vegas for this innovative move… similar to what the Oilers & that Wayne guy did when they decided to have the Cup to themselves for one day.
Frankly I find it hard to believe no one thought of engraving it before their summer tour with the cup, if that was an allowable option.

Obvious reason the cup is never engraved early is because players can't wait to celebrate. If you have to wait until after the engraving, and then each player then has to wait their turn, the celebration can lose some of its steam. I see the benefits both ways around, I'd just say there's no wrong answer there.

Gone from blazing hot to tepid on the idea of bringing on Terasenko with the Canes. Not sure I want a guy who's hung up on squeezing every dime out of us rather than just getting in there and seizing the opportunity. Not good stuff for our locker room. Sure he could have just took a one year deal with a decent offer, put up numbers, then got an even better deal with us after. Feel like we are being used as leverage for him to make a deal with Rangers…

stinko got screwed when rangers got kane and he got shoved down the lineup-he has to play top 6/pp to be effective so now nobody knows what they are getting and wont commit long term-he might end up being the next year to year team jumper like taylor hall…some players can make a career out of it but its hard on family life…๐

Iโm kinda surprised to think Vegas is the first team to request this it just makes so much sense. Wouldnโt be surprised to see every team start to do this
I agree the cup should be engraved first before "day with the cup"
I like the way Vegas did this! It speaks well for the organization as when one of the players has the cup and is drinking with his friends he can say, "See. Here's my name, right here!" Hopefully it starts a new trend.
