I’ve got a feeling we’ll see Podkolzin break out under Rick Tochett. For the first time in his career, Podkolzin should have consistent coaching and expectations for him. And I think we start to see him take some forward steps this season.
He was a really highly touted prospect, but his development has been really sub-optimal both during his time in Russia as well as North America.
He went through Green, Boudreau, Colliton and Tochett in a 2 year window. Plus his time up/down in Russia.
Im buying Podkolzin stock this season.
Sounds like podz has been training really hard this offseason. I think tocchet will give him every opportunity to play an important energy role.

I have a great feeling about podz and hogz. They both have great attitude and work ethic. I believe this coaching staff will provide them with the stability they need to continue to develop.
Expecting great seasons from them in the show this year!
One thing to think about with Pod and Hog, they both excelled under a tightly structured Green system and then floundered under Boudreau, who is more wide open. Will the also-structured Tocchet system serve them better?
Hog brings enthusiasm to 90% of the games he plays. He might be our best forechecker honestly. I remember there was a stat that said Hog had the most o zone puck retrievals not only on our team but one of the top in the league for that stat. Lets face it he’s a hog and there no denying it
I hope Pod takes that utter thrashing he sustained and owns it and makes it his bitch in order to become stronger. The Sedins had their lackluster years and embarrassing moments early in their careers in their cheesecake eating days. They learned, put on their big boy pants and dominated.
