They should buy-out Campbell Vegas style and put that money into a better goalie. Holland won't though, hes too invested into Campbell and hes sticking around for another year at least.
Weird how people defend not playing Campbell when skinner was exhausted… but the team we lost to literally did what the oilers refused to do and switched to Hill. It paid off. They won the cup.
This is an idiotic assertion. Nobody got goalied by Vegas's fourth-string goalie, even if he did make some great saves. Look at the TOI numbers for the whole series. Game 1, VGK had their top forwards out for ~18 minutes and McD/Drai played ~25. EDM has NO DEPTH. When Drai stopped scoring, somebody else should have stepped up. The problem is DEPTH. Vegas played so good defensively that no matter what goalie they had in net the team would have protected him. I feel like this is dumb enough that you've posted it to be wrong on purpose so people like me will correct you in the comments and drive up your interaction numbers for the algorithm.
Seems like you need a great goaltender whose affordable to win the Stanley Cup lately (aside from Vasilevskiy)
I'd give Soup the start for Opening Night and let things flow from there. ride the hot hand. more times than not last year, if one goalie was cold, the other was hot. it was no different in the playoffs, Stu was terrible while Campbell was stellar. idk why you're worried abt our goaltending when your whole franchise is a dumpster fire

You don't start the third line in a do-or-die game and have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl sitting on the bench watching his team get scored on against 30 seconds in.
You can also give a strong argument for not starting a goalie who has been pulled 4 previous times in 11 games and was entirely solved by the opposing teams offense by Game 1.

Stuart Skinner certainly didn't have a great playoffs, and it maybe wouldn't have hurt to give Soup the Game 6 nod against Vegas. But if you want to compare Stu to young Grant Fuhr (keeping in mind you're allowed to because Stu broke Fuhr's rookie wins team record), hey- even Fuhr didn't do well on his first postseason expedition (1982; Miracle on Manchester, anyone?). Next postseason run he had? Cup Finals. Winning it all in back-to-back years.
If there's anyone who's going to come back stronger next year and be a brick wall, it's Stu. Some extra attention to team defense wouldnt hurt either.
Edmonton's loss in rd 2 in 2016/2017 was because we burnt out Talbot and didn't use Brossoit.

I've been a Oilers fan all my life and I AM OLDish (in my 40s so no OK Boomer for me). I remember when Fuhr was replaced with Ranford. Remember when they got CuJo for nothing. Remember when Roloson was washed up but in 2006 had gas left in his tank. Salo too was amazing. But seriously the Oilers have had crap for Goalies for so long since Roloson. Like there are so many times I am like "Oh yeah I remember Ty Conklin (or name that guy)" The oilers have Skinner and he is the first developed goalie they have played in the playoffs sine Fuhr or Moog. Lets go with Skinner!!! (as LB almost killed us on behalf of Vegas anyways)/.

If you want to unload that contract of a crap goaltender while acquiring an established and great netminder signed two more years to less than 3M per you have to overpay. That’s the market to unload salary this offseason. See cal Peterson to flyers for reference.
