He has footage on footage of himself beating the brakes off people. The goon is almost extinct in the NHL but it’s nice to have one on a cheap deal. Even if he never swings a single punch. Players will think twice about pushing around certain guys with him on the ice.

Long time needed. We have so many skill players at every position we need that equalizer on the bench.
It also helps because most other teams stack skill as well. If they get a bit rough it’s nice to have this threat on the bench. I’m not saying we need to return to old school hockey fully. But, the leagues bizarre inability to notice or call some pretty egregious penalties in game says to me the league still relies a bit on the teams to self enforce play.
