Listen… I’m a Pittsburgh fan. I hate Philly. I hate Giroux. I can respect their move to give G a chance to win the cup. He has a NMC, Philly doesn’t have much leverage here to get whatever they could’ve had in a normal situation. With how crazy the market has been the last couple days, Giroux probably could’ve gotten multiple 1sts and tippet (again in a normal trade situation aka no NMC being involved). They got what they could out of this and gave G a chance. Who knows, Tippet may shine where he gets more ice time. That first could turn into another Kucherov. We don’t know who won the trade until these picks are made and IF Florida wins the cup. As of right now, it’s up in the air who won.

This trade looks bad at first glance, I 100% agree. BUT, what if Giroux resigns for the hometown discount after he wins the Cup in Florida? How does it look then? Bunny and Rubstov are contract dumps and who cares about a 5th? I'm going to wait this one out. I am now a Panthers fan for the remainder of the season. Lets go G!

G asked Fletch to guarantee he’d get to come back next season. Chuck wouldn’t do it. Therefore, G refused to “play the game” and help with a better return. “It’s FLA or don’t trade me. 🤷🏻♂️” Bunnaman & Rubtsov in that deal is a ‘total # of contracts’ dump – they weren’t being given additional NHL shots in PHI.
Definitely could have gotten more but it's not a horrible return. Keep in mind, Giroux is in the last year of his contract, the potential of him walking was pretty real especially considering the current state of the Flyers.
If G had 3-4 years left, there would have been a lot more in return…

Giroux held the cards and basically allowed the Flyers to get SOMETHING for him…..having a very limited trade list didn’t give the Flyers much leverage- they got what they COULD…..if they were allowed they would’ve dealt with other teams offers and gotten more….they were not “robbed” or “fleeced”….they didn’t have many teams to talk to and when you have a limited market….you can only get so much…..silly title my friend.

Considering he's the face of the franchise, considering he had a NMC, considering he was UFA at the end of the season. There is no world in which this is a fleece. They (flyers) did what they could with Giroux's demands. He wanted to go to Florida and he did. Florida isn't stupid either, they're not going to give you more than what they want in this case.

Give Giroux credit here. He saw the lack of talent here currently, figured the salary cap would prevent them from getting any better. Knew the GM & ownership were not serious about being relevant any time soon. Saw the opportunity to get out while he still had "playoff caliber skills". He saw a Cup contender in Florida, personally I thought he would try for Colorado even if it meant less ice time.
