They also trade Pierre Engvall to the New York Islanders for their 2024 3rd Round Pick! Lastly, the Buds get Luke Schenn from the Vancouver Canucks for our 2023 3rd Round Pick!! I would give BOTH first rounders PLUS to get Vancouver to retain 50% as well as take on Matt Murray.
IMO that experiment has failed. Same way Mrazek did. Now Murray has played much better than Mrazek however you just cant trust him to be healthy in a long grind of the playoffs. The Leafs need a good solid young Goalie. a Combo of Demko-Samsonov would be Deadly.
Toronto would also free up around 2million here in salary cap. These 50% retained contracts with term like Jake McCabe are whats gunna make this team able to comete long term. Now down the line theres always going to be ways to recoup draft capital. The leafs have a decent amount of assets in the system. As well as a very deep asset team.
