I would say sign him to a 4 year contract = the second he has attitude , get rid of him .
Everyone seems to know Scheifele needs to go except Scheifele. He never said he wants to leave and as long as the Jets pay him he will stay. Meanwhile no one wants Helly to leave but he clearly wants to go. It’s a weird situation.
Back in the earlier year his defensive prowess was not needed. IF you can surround him with more other 2 way players then I don't see a problem. As long as the rest of locker room issues are not an issue.
Scheifele has been a suck for a while now. He doesn't want to be here. The only reason to keep 55 for all of next season would be if the Jets will be a true contender, which they're not. Trade him for a solid up & coming young player with some experience + 2 good prospects & a pic/ pics.
Scheifele would fit well in Buffalo. We could get back Cozens and UPL or Greenway.
Too many people get sentimental about the players that don’t care about the fans, they care about money and fame , that’s it.
He’s not a centre
To all the run Scheif out of towm media — how many game winners did he have ? no one close .Who were his wingers for part of the season and yet he produced .He is a first line C and he could fill this roll untill the youngsters mature .
I wonder if there’s a creative way to find a happy middle… this is something that may sound insane but kinda makes sense? Sign him to a 3x12mil… yes it’s an over pay. But what if there’s truly no trade market out there and what If 55 and his camp know a long term deal at 8-9 mill is just out of the cards? This keeps jets competitive with the cap going up and gives 55 more money than he’d probably see else where. Helps keep jets in the mix while still allowing a younger core to come up. Also plays to 55 being “the forever jet”
Id still like to see him traded, but if it’s for peanuts I start to think about finding a savy way to keep him … That still allows the team to still rebuild.
