Canucks Add Tyler Myers, Jordie Benn and Oscar Fantenberg to Defense

This is that depth on the back end I had hoped for Vancouver, though I am aware this will not be popular with many people.

  1. Jordie Benn what a steal & Tyler Myers will help the D with Quinn Hughes being that much better. They have trouble staying healthy on Defense. Now with who we have on our top 8 forwards I'm very encouraged. This team if handled properly could surprise many fans.

  2. No Seven for myers fine, to more depthguys perfect, Oscar might surprise us if he find his place, with joulevi 8 intresting players at D, Well Done

  3. He's going to fall off a cliff with his skating. His skating was already declining. That's why giving Myers 5 years is a bit too long for my liking.

  4. Edler – Tanev
    Hughes – Myers
    Juolevi – Stetcher
    Benning – Biega, Fantenberg

That’s actually pretty decent assuming the top two can play 60 games at least.

Still a bit iffy on the left side with the young guys.

  5. Am I the only one excited to see what Vancouver can do next year, I think they are doing to be one of the most fun and competitive teams to watch.

  6. My personal opinion but if FA doesn't bring Benning back he's a short sighted fool. The Canucks where worse then an expansion team when he took over and I mean the old type of expansion team not the new Vegas type expansion team.

  7. Benning: (sneezes)
    Twitter: (loses their fucking minds)

There’s a reason I’m not on Twitter. Too many idiots who think they’re smart because they’re on Twitter. If all of you are smart, go be an executive in an NHL front office. Go on, what are you waiting for?

  8. The contract is awful as soon as the ink is dry. A team thats as bad as Vancouver being up against the cap without having paid Boeser/Pettersson etc is laughable.

  9. Honestly not s bad deal. Myers is 29 so 5 years is a good term. Also 6M/season is decent for a top 4 d man these days.

  10. Curious if the Nucks promised Benn a role on the second pair. MTL offered him the same exact deal and he refused. Maybe he just wanted to play at home.

  11. Last of the heart-attack crew have gone. Now to the new crew…..seriously though it could've been much worse.

  12. I was a little bit worried at the Myers signing at first, but after seeing some comments and NHL coverage on Sportsnet I think it's okay for now but at the same time cant really judge until October. The Benn and Fattenburg signing I was okay with … good for depth. Just sad to see Schenn go, but happy for him to play in Tampa I hope he gets his game back. Also good luck to Granlund and Gaunce, always liked the underdog players. Can't wait for the season to start !!

  13. Good analysis. The Canucks got much bigger and tougher which is what they needed sorely, and also their blueline was gross last season, so adding Myers and Benn as well as a full season of Hughes, the Canucks are looking much better.

  14. I've always had a soft spot for the Canucks since my NYR beat them in '94. Love your fan base's passion and have always followed the team since then. Let's get back into the playoffs Nucks!

  15. Good to see Nucks trying to make something happen.. Only a few options & they stepped fwd! Too bad Luongo screwed them for 3 yrs.. & Schenn was doing well so too bad to lose him
