Who’s Next in Line?

OK Guys, In today’s video it’s time to take a look at the Montreal Canadiens current goaltending situation. With Carey Price’s career pretty much over.. Who will be next in line, for the Habs? Will Samuel Montembeault carry the torch now as the #1 goaltender? Or will the future #1 goaltender be a prospect that is currently in the system? Maybe, just maybe Kent Hughes has to eventually trade for a true #1 Goaltender. Lets chat about it..

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. Like u , first year I didnt liked Montembeault at all,i found him pretty good last year. I dont see him as a star goalie but our #1 goalie for sure …for now…I really tough Primeau wouldve do it,a D-man and goalies usually ''bloom'' later on their careers , seems like i was wrong for Primeau idk.I didnt saw anything about the goalies weve draft so far butits way to early.I dont think MTL will be a good team for the next couples of years but Montembeault can easily progress and take the #1 goalie for the time being. And when well make the payoffs well see if changes in the net is needed. Im also still pissed at Kreider….

  2. I think Sammy M can become the guy. Considering the teams he played behind the past 2 seasons he was really good most nights.

  3. I think a lot of you will be shocked at how athletic Dobes is. His style reminds me of Vasilevskiy. Been watching him for a while now. He's the one I'm most excited for.

  4. i had a good feeling about Monty from the start, i liked how quick he could move an had a good feeling about him

  5. I think Monty is here to stay either if he turns it up a notch for #1 or be the #2 . Let's see what the future boys bring

  6. I say Fowler is next in line, give Monty 6 years as number 1. Then give reigns to the new one

  7. Montembault is an average backup goaltender at best. Allen has never been a #1. Primeau hasn't shown that he's an NHL goaltender. And none of the guys they've drafted are blue chip prospects. Fowler looked overweight at the draft.
This is the biggest weakness of the team right now.

  8. I love Monty but I think Fowler is the next big one. He seems to have that Roy no fear and confident in himself.

  9. It's going to be Gabriel D'Aigle after they draft him in 2025 🤞. Kid has all the natural skills/athleticism in the world, he's 6'4" at 16, and bonus?: He's pure laine ⚜👌. First real shot at another Patrick Roy. Same trajectory, phenom talent playing on teams that allowed tons of shots.

  10. I think price is coaching montembault, ever since price has been out, monty’s been steadily improving 🧐

  11. I have a feeling it's gonna be Monty, and we may see some more growth from him this season – especially if the young D core takes a step forward.

  12. I have faith in Monty he may be a late bloomer but when you win a gold for team Canada 🇨🇦 it will put a jump in your step! Obviously Hughes is on a goaltender blitz just like our stack D. We will get that Elusive 40 +!sniper via trade a g man and a dman plus picks will get we need. I am absolutely convinced Hughes knows what he is doing. How many former first rounders has he picked up on the Chesapeake? At One time these players were rated as the best prospects in the world and if Martin’s St. Louis can change Cole Caufield and Dach around it is Low risk high reward in the end !

  13. Monty was solid last year. Really good at break aways. Hopefully he continues. Dobes looks like a young Felix "the cat" Potvin…

  14. Monty is going to be a good number one do you guys remember when Price was number two behind Halek

  15. Montreal cant win with a goalie that lets in 3-4 goals per game, and Montembomb using his Johnson & Johnson No More Tears water bottle after every goal…..

  16. Cary Price will be back between the pipes and if he’s not the Hans will never win a cup ever again.

  17. This is exactly why Montreal should have kept the 2nd rd pick with the Newhook trade. Hrabal looks very interesting, good pick up by Arizona.

  18. Monty deserves to be the starter. The stats he put up with that team in front of him are impressive. He had some bad games, but he must have been exhausted with the amount of shots he faced.

This guy had to make 40 saves if he wanted to win.

  19. Monty is our #1 by default.
We really don't have a 1. He is an above average backup.
The future needs to be Fowler or Dobes or we are in trouble.

  20. It is basically monty's job to loose.. he will be given plenty of games this year to prove he is the the number 1.

  21. Cub is our future!!! Love his size, lateral movement and athleticism. He should surprise everyone in Laval and eventually be our #1 and potentially the best goaltender in the NHL.

  22. Personally I really like Monty! Goaltenders always seem to take a little longer to develop. I am hoping either Fowler or Dobes could be the future down the road. Anyways I do like the direction the Habs are going in, and I really feel the next few years are going to be exciting!

  23. You're 100% right Montembeault should be the starter… After that Fowler impresses on professionalism… Miller impresses on stats for me.

  24. I think biggest factor last yr with Monty was he didnt have the wonder if Price is coming back or not. It was one less distraction and he could focus on playing his game. Also don't doubt that Price didnt just start mentoring Monty before world championships, and he was doing it most of season as well.
