This guy doesn’t look even remotely unhinged enough to fill Tanev’s shoes. /s
I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves when we label anyone a top minute eating lockdown defensive force before they’ve even played a professional game of hockey. I’ll be happy to eat my words but let’s let the kid develop his own identity on the ice.

If that’s true, our blueline of the future is set. Hughes, Willander, Hronek, and Truscott sounds pretty good.

We’re gonna hear “the next Chris Tanev” for years to come aren’t we?

Not saying I agree necessarily, but Tanev, Slavin, and other great defensive defensemen all share one thing in common: tremendous poise. Truscott (and Hirose imo) have a lot of it.
“I just see poise…I see two years of college hockey. … It doesn’t seem to me like anything is coming at him too fast.”
– Team USA head coach Nate Lehman on Truscott.

Mid round defence draft picks always get pegged as future 2nd pairing defencemen. I remember in 2007/2008, the fanbase was projecting Daniel Rahimi and Taylor Ellington as the future 2nd pair of the Canucks d-corps.
