  1. The play wasn't dead. The whistle only blew after the hit. I can agree with the decision here, but to say the play was dead is untrue.

  2. All the gambling app pushing on all the hockey channels is getting nauseating, especially on spittin chiclets

  3. No head contact, but he also didn't hit him (from behind) into the boards when he wasn't expecting it. I never really thought the Leaf Tax was real, but ever since Mitch wanted ALL THE MONEY on his second deal, I've been noticing it more and more

  4. The interesting thing to me usually the person in McCann's position is bracing for an impact regardless of whether the puck went out of play or not. And probably 9 times out of 10 not even a penalty is called. It's an interference penalty, but we're getting a bit ticky tacky. Bunting's hit LOOKS bad because he made contact with the head but Bunting wasn't thinking "I'm gonna elbow this dude in the dome"

  5. Comparing this to buntings hit is ridiculous, no hit to head guys, stick to betting odds and stay away from deciphering plays.

  6. One thing continues to bug me about this hit. Makar gives him a push then disengages only to load up and deliver the check. If I'm McCann, that first push is the only contact I'm expecting with the puck going out of play. If Makar instead maintains contact into the boards like a true continuation play, McCann would have been able to brace for a hit. As it happened, McCann made no motions to prepare to play the puck (because it's no where near him) or do anything else that would support Makar's claim that he thought McCann was trying to play the puck. Makar knew what he was doing. He saw an opportunity to land a huge hit and took it. I don't think he was trying to injure McCann, but it was a very late hit on an unsuspecting player that resulted in injury. Had the 5 minute major held up like it should have I would have agreed with the 1 game. Because the on ice officials botched the call it should have been 2 games, but this is the NHL so part of me is just surprised they suspended him at all.

  7. So, can we stop blaming players for doing their jobs and start blaming refs for not doing theirs? Cale isn't a dirty player and he wouldn't have hit someone after the whistle. The ref needed to blow that whistle a lot faster than he did. Can't say the ref wasn't watching, of course he was 😅

  8. The word is "less", Makar deserved less, as in 0 games suspension. There was no whistle, it's a bad interference penalty, but there was no whistle. And while it's easy for everyone in the stands to track the puck, without a whistle Makar doesn't necessarily know where the puck is. Not hearing a whistle, he follows his opponent, perhaps presuming that the other player knows where the puck was. So he certainly cheated by hitting before knowing for certain that the puck was there. But 2 things: We've all seen so many things worse than this with no penalty. And you never ever see a star player like Kucherov or Malkin get suspended for something equally greasy. He SHOULD have gotten a discount for being a star, but he didn't at all.

  9. So do you all have magic hearing. I get that the puck went out of play, we can easily see it from our TV perspective, but unless your ears are bionic, there is no whistle, cause the refs didnt know where it went either. Just saying, you act like Cale and mccann knew were the puck went, when no one did, so to say the play was dead is just asinine. You play to the whistle. Whistle came after the hit. Watch the video if you don't believe me… BS suspension on one of the most respectable players in the game. Remember when Cale told an official he wasnt tripped. Boy has more class than any of us, and is suspended for this. Disgraceful.

  10. actually jesse if you knew anything about hockey you would know the play in fact had not stopped because the ref had not blown the whistle yet.

  11. Clearly a penalty and the game suspension is warranted. Nonetheless, when considering the number of games, is it appropriate to factor in that the whistle was not blown until after the hit? The ref should have blown the whistle when the puck went over the glass, but he did not. I'm not in any way arguing that the hit was legal, just that if the whistle isn't blown, shouldn't a player assume the puck's in play? If the whistle had been blown when it should have been, I think it's much less likely that the hit ever happens. And if the hit did still occur, I believe the suspension should have been far more severe.

  12. Lost so much respect for Steve.

He let his idiot buddies dictate that entire narrative for him.

The media and most hockey coverage has been extremely favorable towards Seattle, which is stupid and extremely unfortunate.
