Well, I’ve heard Buffalo was also trying to move up in teh first round to get Wahlburg and were stunned he was still there @39th.. I don’t think they would have moved that pick. Still, from a Vancouver standpoint… unless buffalo was taking Willander.. he probably would have still been there.. I’m not sure Buffalo would have made the move.. and in hindsight. I think they are glad they didn’t.
as a sabres fan i am more than happy with the way it went down, benson is a stud and has chemistry here already with players on the roster and our early first last year in savoie
Buffalo's draft team said that there were 3 defensemen they were interested in and would take at 13, IMO most likely Reinbacher, Simashev and Willander. Apparently Buffalo contacted a few teams ahead of them to see if Buffalo could move up, but no teams were willing to make that trade. Consequently it makes sense that Buffalo tried to trade up to #11 and Vancouver declined to make the trade. IMO, Vancouver was correct in thinking Willander wouldn't be there at 13 because Buffalo would have already picked him at 11.
The Canucks always f$&& themselves. If they had their other 1st rounder or second rounder they could have moved up.
In the trade, Buffalo would have still drafted benson at 11…. Then Willander with Arizona. Ppl are dumb, it would have been ASP or hopefully Moore 🤞
