Starting slow? Are the Red Wings playing today? The friend of my enemy,, is my friend.
The Red Wings could be inching towards a Debrincat trade. They have Boston's 1st round pick. They have prospects. They now have more roster players. Plus, Ottawa is a bit closer to Derincat being a UFA.
I'm thinking Copp should do a little better this season. He had abdominal surgery before last season and it takes awhile to recover and be fully 100% after that.
you look far less mad today. 😀
Walman – Seider
Gostisbehere – Holl
Maataa – Chiarot
Lindstrom as 7th
I’m cool with those lines tbh. Gost and Holl seems to make sense on paper at least. Holl is much better when you ask him to be the defensive defenseman.
I don’t like the term on the Copp, Compher, Chairot, or Holl contracts. I trust Yzerman will eventually get there, I do. I just question the term on some of these deals. Of all of them I listed, Compher could turn out to be the best. Copp started playing better late last season. Hopefully he’s even better this year.
Looking at the roster now I’m frustrated with the lack of D spots available for Edvinsson and Johansson. We’re currently carrying 7D on the roster. It’s almost like they’re saying the kids aren’t ready yet. With the exception of Seider and Lidstrom the rest are all 3-4M a year guys. Short of injuries, where do the kids fit in? I guess we healthy scratch 3-4M $ guys…..
They still haven’t signed Veleno and may not although they did give him a qualifying offer. They still show Kasper on the roster as his injury stopped him from being sent down at the end of the season. Rasmussen is on IR but that will change. Leaving Kasper on the roster and Veleno unsigned thats 13 forwards. I believe Kasper will make the roster out of camp/pre-season.
I know I’d sure like to see Soderblom, Hanas, Mazur, and Lombardi get some time in the big club. I would think Soderblom should be ready for a roster spot. Time for Zadina to hit waivers. I’m over Zadina in a big way. Just done. Czarnik and Luff have been OK as call ups, but I think the kids behind them have more potential.
This is likely Perron’s last year. It’s the last year of his contract and he’ll be 36 when it expires. Kubalik has one year left. Sprong, Fischer, Berggren, Raymond, Lidstrom, and Seider all have 1 year left. I’d say there’s no doubt they re-sign Seider, Raymond, and Bergrenn. The rest will be sorted out by their play and who’s making a case for a roster spot coming up out of GR. What Stevie is going to do with the D-Corps….. I don’t know. Trades or waivers……
Here’s something of note – 4 of the 6 UFA’s signed (not counting goalies and 2-way contracts) are RH shots. Fischer, Compher, Sprong, and Holl are RH shots. A center, 2 wingers, and a D-man. Additionally, 4 of 9 draft picks (not counting goalies) were RH shots with Danielson an RH Center and Pellika, Gibson, and Phelan all being RHD. There certainly seems to be a concerted effort to add right handers into the organization, something Detroit has lacked for years.
It’s an interesting and sometimes frustrating time to be a fan.
Garbage bin free agent signings.
This guy is way better than the other top wings podcast. Swears. Isn't afraid to say it how it is. Finally. I was about to start my own podcast
Just found your channel and I like it. Well spoken and no drama.
Actually I am not a fan of very many Red Wing channels.
I'll keep watching.
I cant wait to see Seider as captain.
The problem with the redwings right now is the fans thinking that they can run the team better than steve Yzerman.
Something I thought about looking at the Cap Friendly Depth Chart @7:55 is that every single position, including in goal has an extra player… thus making everyone have to compete for a job. Outside of maybe a handful of players, everyone has to look over their shoulder coming in to training camp and the remainder of the season and think to themselves (If I don't have my "A" game tonight, I might be on the bench and not get back on the roster until the next person makes a mistake."
We had the cap space unlike a lot of team, so the money wasn't an issue fortunately. What is says is "If you're a free agent, welcome to the Red Wings… go earn a job!" It also tells the young guns Yzerman drafted "So you want to step up to the NHL? Well you have to beat an NHLer to get the chance. Go earn a job."
Whether intentional or not, I like that the people that make the main roster will have earned it, as opposed to simply moving into the slot because of a trade or a Free Agent leaving. It could be good in the long run for the team.
The wing have a really bad history of singing 2nd line centers to 5M for 5 year. Wise, nealson, cop 4th times a charm?
At the trade deadline sens will get at least a first . If sens retain some of his $7.6m contract even more. Not concerned
Do you think that maybe Steve is loading the roster to be able to ship a couple of bodies to Ottawa to bring in DeBrincat
And then, the DeBrincat deal involving Kubalik happened.
Sorry to see Ned go though.
