We’ve covered best line names and best player nicknames, so let’s talk best goalie masks. For me, Gilles Gratton takes the cake. Many came after that may have looked better, but his was the first to look so realistic.

I may be a little bit Leafs biased but I choose Curtis Joseph, Felix Potvin and Ed Belfour that was a great 15 year time frame for Leafs goaile masks

Eddie Belfour and Martin Broudeur come to mind for me

Gary Cheevers has to be the most iconic

This is going way back but as a kid I loved gerry Cheever’s mask . It had a Frankenstein vibe and also told a story . Made you think about the goalies who played before masks

Belfour but I’m a bit Hawks biased
NBA-014
Jacques Plant. The original mask.

I almost want to say Hasek, at least in terms of iconic. I remember it being such a big talking point of what he looked like compared to most of the other goalies in the NHL. Stylish goalie masks really started to take off in the 90s through to the 2000s, so having the best goalie in the league looking like that stood out a lot.

Eddie the Eagle!

I always think Cujo and Brodeur of iconic masks.
LarryD217
Wayne Stephenson’s Flyers mask

Tretiak’s combo helmet & cage. When I first saw it in 72, I was mesmerized. I’d never seen a goalie wear anything but a fiberglass face mask. What a cool idea!
A helmet for further protection, and a cage to keep the puck from contacting your face. Amazing idea.

Cujo for sure

Ed Belfour had beautiful and iconic masks.

Jacques Plante,, John Vanbiesbrouck and Mike Richter.

CuJo and Liut both had some pretty neat masks, but I’m a biased Blues fan. Cheevers was awesome and Markstrom’s Lava Skull mask was pretty neat.

The goalie mask from Youngblood. Not young bloods team but the yellow and black team. That was bad ass

Ed Belfour Eagle mask with Chicago.
Ed Belfour is what came to my mind.
Brian Hayward – [Shark Bite with Blood Drops](https://images.app.goo.gl/GFUPXwkaPBWyXuJB6) …sooo 90’s
Murray Bannerman Chicago Blackhawks
A couple more obscure but fun ones …
Antero Niittymaki’s, with Frank Nitti firing a Tommy gun on the side.
Patrick Lalime with Marvin the Martian.
Jean Sebastian Giguere, with the Terminator duck.
John Grahame and the bikini-clad girl.
Obviously a Homer call but Kolzig’s Godzilla
Mike List’s mask is my choice.
Cheevers
Dryden
Bannerman
Larocque
Ken Dryden
Arturs Irbe.
Belfour’s Florida panthers helmet was freaking gorgeous
