This is an emergency podcast before the New Jersey Devils were able to make a last-second pickup. They traded away their 2024 fourth-round draft pick to the Vancouver Canucks for the services of Curtis Lazar. On paper, this might not be the most exciting acquisition, however, this can be very beneficial for the Devils’ bottom six. Tom Fitzgerald had some interesting thoughts to share in regard to the Devils’ expectations moving forward.

With the addition of lazar, the devil's became a hell of a lot harder to play against. Nico's line is that small, fast, and skilled line but literally every other line has a bruiser type. Timo on the second, palat on the third, and now lazar on the bottom? oof I wouldn't wanna be against that. Low key, I almost think it's a good thing the devil's missed out on Johnny this past off season cause now I think they are better built for playoffs without him then they would be with him
I like this addition. Plus, if any of the BMW line don’t return next season we have a solid 4th line center for only $1 mil per.
Fitz has not been wrong for a long time. Hall trade, Coleman trade, flipped a pick for Siegs, Drafted well and signed great contracts. This deal gives us a player who wins draws and keeps pucks on our teams sticks and he lays pipe. We got a solid team and we have players who are familiar with the Bruins play style. Lazar interview was excellent as well. Humble, and honest can't ask for a higher caliber person as well.

The only consolation is that the Devils got 1 point. I hate that the Devils lost this game to the Golden Knights and the way that they lost. The Devils have to find a way to win games like this if they are to have a chance against Boston. The Devils need more grit and muscle.
Please — bring on Timo Meier and Curtis Lazar asap.
Good move, obviously nowhere near as needle-moving as trading for Meier but Lazar should hopefully prove useful.
