The Montreal Canadiens continued their efficient summer signing spree, crossing two more restricted free agents off their to-do list so far. The team announced the return of Nicolas Beaudin and Lucas Condotta on two-way deals for the upcoming season. Interestingly enough, Condotta appears to have done enough to have earned a two-year deal, with Beaudin returns on a one-year contract. Where do both of these players slot in on the Rocket next year, and will either push for serious NHL time as well?
That leaves just Jesse Ylönen as the last unsigned RFA for the Canadiens, and it begs the question, where will the Finnish winger slot in next year? He has a ton of offensive upside, and the smarts to work great in Martin St. Louis’ system, but spots are very limited. Could Ylönen become a sweetener in a trade to move a longer term contract off the books, or will Kent Hughes manage to make the space for Ylönen before the regular season begins?
Finally, to end the show it’s the Friday Mailbag! We tackle some listener questions on Juraj Slafkovsky’s development next year and the future of Brendan Gallagher in Montreal, and more!

Ylonen should get his chance to start season…I still think pitlick and Hoffman will be put on waivers if they can’t trade them to make room for the youngsters
I thought Dvorak is having surgery and won’t start season???? If yes, one less they have to put on waivers
I really hope they put some rookies in the line-up! Would love to see Owen, Wawa and Logan make the cut. As for vets Savard and Gally will lead by example. Laval is going to be on hot ticket this year that is for sure. Be nice that all the prospects on the farm are going to get a sniff at the club this year. Where is Wifi’s brother going to end up this year? Heard he is a hell of a scrapper. With Leafs,Bruins and Sens bulking up on the muscle I wonder if he will get a taste on the forth line.
We seem to be shaping up like Vegas with three rolling lines and our fourth can be a grinding/checking/toughness line our D is and is going to be so over the top good. I believe Monty and winning that gold is going to his game to the next level. The team is going to be exciting just like last year I don’t recall to many games the were not entertaining even in a loss.
the trade gallagher they would have to retain half the salary. send armia to laval. hoffman as well, it's hoffman's last year
Your fired Scott 🤓😆😝😎
Personally I don’t think there is a place for Ylonen on the habs in the future… I think Montreal will hope to get him going to have a good year so they can move him in a packaged deal but I think there are way better options coming up and Ylonen doesn’t have a future here…. Emil Heineman is everything Ylonen was suppose to be. So ya unfortunately he won’t be with the habs in the future in my opinion. Also the habs are going to be a very very exciting team this season and I could see them finishing with 75-82 points on the season and will probably be drafting 10th-13th overall which is actually not that bad because there are a couple players that look to be MASSIVE steals around that range, Berkeley Catton and Igor Chernyshov… Catton projects to be a flashy Top 6 forward and Chernyshov is a 6’2 192 pounds Russian power forward and also projects to be top 6 even some scouts saying he could be a 100 point player that sneaks away In the draft almost exactly how Rantanen and Robertson and Thompson all fell in their draft years….
PROSPECT MAILBAG QUESTIONS!:)
Some people are saying because the 2024 draft is so stacked with Defenders some really good forwards can slip. if Montreal finishes with the 11th overall pick, Do you guys think Berkly Catton, Igor Chernyshov would be amazing gets for the habs, Chernyshov especially has been talked about as a Jason Robertson type steal… Also do you guys think that a 3rd line of Joshua Roy – Owen Beck – Filip Mesar could possibly be one of the best 3rd lines in the future?
