5 NHL Teams that are Completely SCREWED This Offseason
We already looked at the five NHL teams that are set to take a leap forward this offseason, but what about the teams that are going to need to make major moves in order to keep their squads intact?
Hmmm, a video with the title "Teams that are completely screwed" and the thumbnail is the Canucks and the Islanders. Why am I not surprised? Seems that could have happened any time in the last 35 years.
You need a new crystal ball, the Canucks just signed 4 defensemen and a 3rd line centre. I'm more optimistic about next season than I've been in quite a while. Kudos to their management team, it's such a difference from the hell Jim Benning threw this team into and will take even more creative maneuvering to try to get out of.
The Canucks are much better team today than they were 5 days ago. Picking up key blue line pieces on the free agency market was a step in the right direction. They had no choice but to buy out OEL if they had any intentions of trying to make the playoffs this year. Jim Benning destroyed the Canucks and we feel the wrath of his black dyed hair for years to come. Don't get me started on not taking Ktachuck over Jolevi a few years ago. That one bad decision will stimy the Canucks for 5 years. The reason they didn't take Ktachuk is because Benning said we have the same type of player in Virtanen. What a disaster!
as an Islanders fan – just wanted to clear a few things up. You mentioned losing Mayfield. he just signed, losing Varmalov – he just signed, room is there for Parisi if he wants to come back, also just locked up one of the best young goalies for many years. Of course, that just gets them back to what they were, but now they will have Horvat for the entire year. They could miss the playoffs, but then again they could be top 4 in the division. We shall see
Clowns nower days with 0 #NHL knowledge thinking that they can name YouTube videos and not know the cap rules and thinks the cap will stay the same for ever not to speak about the OEL buy it its bad for 2 seasons its max hit is at $4.75M and then dropping down to $2m, your takes are horrible and you should juat delete all your hockey videos and go back to making video game highlights
You might want to do a bit more research regarding the Islanders. Raty is long gone, and everyone resigned except Parise who is currently undecided on retirement.
To add to the doubts re this analysis, this Rangers fan thinks they deserve bottom 5 recognition — mostly due to a talented but cap-blowing no-trade core that needs to be reconstructed because their game does not translate to the playoffs — too many passers, no snipers, ineffective in front of the net, and therefore do not score reliably at 5 on 5 against good defenses. And I do not know who rates farm systems or how, but the Rangers have a long and rich history of misfiring on high picks, failing to develop young players, and trading away raw talent for expensive veterans — which only aggravates their cap issues. Also makes it hard to resolve other deficiencies including lack of speed and toughness, and woefully ineffective fore and back checking by three forward lines. In addition, teams have now learned to handle their power play by taking away the pass to Kreider at the net or to Zibanejad for the one-timer from the left circle.
GM Drury made some good and cheap pickups in the free agent market this year, but I do not see how it changes the mix significantly. Fortunately, they have first-rate regular season game, and every Metro team except Car and NJ has major problems. So they should make the playoffs, but new coach LaViolette has some work to do if he wants to go deep.
I don't entirely disagree, but I do think Senators will turn some heads next season. Let's not forget, they would have easily made the playoffs last year if they had any decent start to the season. They also have superstars on the rise in B.Tkachuk, Stuzle and Sanderson and have a very strong top 6, even if they loose Debrincat. Most people who don't follow the team much don't realize that Senators' Josh Norris was injured all of last season and had a 35 goal (on pace for 40) in year 2021-2022 as the first liner, to be later replaced by Stuzle on the first line. Norris is an excellent player, and is a better rounded player than Debrincat (plays PPs, PKs, excellent at faceoffs and very good defensively), although less proven. With the progress of their stars, and with hopefully a bit of luck to avoid major injuries and get decent goaltending, they are likely to be a better team.
The Flyers are rebuilding. If they are bad who cares. They are trying to get draft picks and build for the future. They are in better shape either way actually committing to a rebuild.
I don't think the Bruins r guna be as bad as this video makes it seem…especially since this video is from b4 Bruins got some free agents and Bruins have gotten some good players on the cheap…adding JVR,Kevin Shattenkirk,Lucic, Geekie, and now Jesper Boqvist to the team!? Also I have a feeling at least 1 guy, either Bergy or Krejci, will be back…most likely Bergy!? If he comes back it'd be his 20th season and Bruins 100th!? It'd almost be just wrong to not have Bergy as Captain for season 100!!?? I have a feeling he plays 1 more year!? And really the Bruins r still guna have the same goalie tandem as last season, last seasons best tandem in the NHL!!?, and their D is guna be basically the same!? The only real big changes r upfront but Bruins have gotten some good talent for not a lot of $!? I have a feeling they may surprise people again!!?? After all last off-season EVERYONE was saying that the Bruins were guna be lucky to be in decent position by Thanksgiving/Xmas cuz of guys being injured and questions on Bergeron and Krejci coming back but what happened!? The Bruins completely dominated ALL SEASON and were #1 in league for basically the whole season!? I think only time they weren't in 1st place was earlier in season when Devils and golden Knights were keeping pa w with them and once in awhile Bruins would move down to 2nd but only cuz they hadn't played as many games as Vegas or NJ so technically they got knocked down a notch but really the Bruins were #1 all season!? A season where everyone was expecting them to not make playoffs or be lucky to!? The Bruins made them all eat their words bigtime!!??
I fucking hate Ottawa lmao but to even have them in this video is stupid as fuck 😂😂😂 Ottawa is coming up and they are very promising this year may be the year they make the playoffs again… Ottawa isn’t a declining team like Boston, Tampa, Vancouver and even Toronto… Ottawa has many years left to bring a cup home.
The Bruins have a pretty good Decade plus. A Stanley Cup, 3 trips to the final, a presidents cup. They’re hoping to squeeze one more season out of the current roster before they are going to lose a lot of older stars who will likely retire. A victim of their own success.

Calgary Flames?
Hawks have Tampa's first round pick next year….. Is it Top 10 protected?

Canucks have always been screwed

LTIR.. did TB utilized that before? 😅
I knew the bruins were gonna be here lol
LOL @ this. Islanders just signed 3 players mentioned here and locked up Sorokin for 8 years. Try again buddy.

Penguins are screwed
Should have Calgary here too! The Flames are headed NOWHERE FAST!!!

Lol..Ottawa isnt on this list or anywhere close to it . Get real..
How do you pick the Flyers? They are rebuilding. They don't expect to win.

The Canucks actually got better this off season though. So i think this is a bit out of place

Tampa's in the playoffs this year, no prob., no reason for them to be on this list.
Forget Tampa, they're screwed for at least another 25 years. 6 picks including a 1st and 2nd for Jeannot. Wow.

The bruins? With both goalies returning (swayman wants to play in boston), their top defensive lines, and most of their top offensive lines returning?
Ny islanders
Will Be Just Fine 🍾

YOU MISSED THE TAYLOR HALL TRADE.

A lot of people thought the Bruins were going to stink like ass in 22-23. So you really can't say chicken shit about shit
Canucks get rid of Myers, create tons of cap space and eliminate lots of mistakes behind the blue line
