Trent Green was slated to be the starter for the Rams in the 1999 season, but suffered a gruesome season-ending knee injury in a preseason game on a hit by Rodney Harrison of the Chargers. Unheralded backup Kurt Warner took over for Green, and led the Rams to a 13–3 season culminating in a dramatic 23–16 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV.

Who's here from the American Underdog movie?
Kurt Warner did so well, cause he went out there and thought about having to go back to bagging groceries again…dude said helllllll NAW!!!! 🏈 🔥
Pats fan here. Harrison was a Ronnie Lott wannabee but always leaned to hit dirty. He actually cleaned up his act later in his career.
Lol…."Not intentional" … Rodney Harrison had been known for being a dirty player !
The last words r so funny a significant drop off 🤣 yeah finally getting rid of green no disrespect to Greene 😆
History repeated in same exact fashion 2 years after in exact way with pick#199, who we now know as GOAT.
Rodney Harrison is the guy who is surely going to HALL of Fame someday, he helped Kurt Warner to start and make history, he played with Brady on superbowl wins.
If Trent green ever got hurt, the Rams probably would have never had Kurt Warner and never win a Superbowl
Both of them were born in Cedar Rapids Iowa
Said it in 99, and I’ll say it in 2022, Rodney Harrison is a dirty player.
American underdog!!
Currently watching American Underdog and paused it to look up this play. Bad enough Green got hurt and then the very next play, Warner makes a good throw and the receiver fumbles it on an odd but hard hit. This all happened in the last minutes before the half. Does anyone recall how the second half went? I see it ended 24-20 for the Rams so he had to do some good in the 2nd half. Granted, it was preseason game, and injuries like that seem like the darkest of omens.
Would the Rams had won the Super Bowl with Trent Green at QB?
"And I took that Personally"
Mike Martz hated Warner
Refs were just as terrible back then. SMH.
Smh “show on turf” was literal
The origins of the "Greatest Show on Turf"
people forget about rodney harrison, guy was a beast in his day. unfortunately for him, he was involved in the birth of Kirt Warner and was the helmet catch guy in bradys perfect season
Lol the final words. "With all due respect to Kurt Warner it's a big dropoff"
Rodney Harrison: T N. T fuckn N
We all are inspite I am from India still from the movie underdog Kurt I am watching this inspite we don't watch NFL in here but just the story is so inspiring we had to come
Rodney Harrison got Kurt Warner and Dick Vermeil in the HOF with one dirty hit!!
“We will rally around Kurt Warner. And we will play good football.”
— Dick Vermeil
American Underdog brought me here, anyone?
All these future Hall of Famers on that offense and no one even saw it coming at the time…
Both of these teams are in LA now
Play was DIRTY AF. Harrison was a scumbag player.
Kurt Warner
wow. his first throw was so bold.
The best is when Kurt was doing his HOF speech. He specifically named Trent Green for making it possible for him.
Rodney Harrison always a dirtball
Thanks to kurt Warner and tom Brady every time a starting qb goes down and the backup comes in I wonder if I am witnessing history
I live 30 min from where Kurt warner grew up and my dad played him in high school and he played in my gym I am in most days
I had just graduated high-school….those were the days
The packers were fools for not seeing what Kurt had atleast…..it's intimidating coming into the NFL but they should've checked him out……the one that got away
Marshall faulk let him in
Kurt steps in and makes history…
Kurt Warner's life story is really INSPIRATIONAL! It should be made into a movie!
Rodney Harrison was dirty af.
Trent Green got Carson Palmer’d before Tom Brady
Rodney Dirty hitting Harrison
The announcer was all wrong Rodney Harrison did try to hurt him
Yeah the only villain here was that old style artificial turf. Stack 4 nickels and that's how thick it was over concrete. But what was worse was that it would very, very quickly become all kinked up and nappy from people walking on it and start to act like velcro to players cleats.
I'm sure Trent would appreciate the NFL rules of today.
Love the last words of the video – “All due respect to Kurt Warner, that’s a pretty sizable drop off…”
This was Trent greens team not Kurt Warners
At the time the hit was clean, it wasn’t until a decade later where they made this hit illegal
