  1. He was certainly the best defenseman available if not BPA. I know everyone wanted the local kid, but the last time we did that, we had to buy him out over an incident on the North Shore. Hey, if people can make a Juolevi reference, I can make a Virtanen reference. I don’t care what country he’s from. We’ve had some excellent Swedish players and it wasn’t their fault we didn’t win anything. We needed a top 4 D and we got one. He was Sandin-Pellikka’s defensive partner and you can see what the idea is. Hopefully in 2-3 years, he’s Quinn’s D partner. That could be a lethal pairing in Hughes’ prime years.

  2. Talent is more or less obvious it's nailing the not quite good enough for prime time picks and then max out their development which seems to be the plan of Allvin et al.Anyone who has been a canucks fan from the beginning knows that this is the first time in their history that they have a development emphasis remarkable nuff said

  3. I prefer the good ol' days when there weren't very many hockey teams, games and a hockey team could pick as many as 12 round draft picks. Thanks guys, but I don't share your enthusiam about the Canucks getting better for the 2023-24 season. They have a lot of work to do for a hockey franchise. 7 draft picks won't guarantee a winner. I still have a bad taste in my mouth the way management treated the team's previous head coach and letting him go without informing him about his firing. Plus last season, they had a player GM paid over 10 million dollars and he produced one point in 40 games. Pathetic!

  4. Thanks for the review Gents. I was looking for your take on today's free Agents, but I guess you too deserve a Holiday. Happy Canada Day!
