How Many Goals For Caufield This Year?
Ottawa and Buffalo have been doing this as well. Especially my Sens, we have Norris, Stu, Brady, Chabot and hopefully Sanderson and Pinto soon.
If he doesn't get injured probably 35-45
Valid comments.we hope the projections for Cole are right.I support this move to lock him up,but there are risks
Calgarys greatest, posts once again 🔥🔥🔥
i think habs fans (including me) just need to enjoy these next few years of all the young talent the team currently has to offer
This is why I don't watch the NHL anymore.
He has literally been scoring at an elite rate and hasn’t played a game since signing, so I don’t know why you would already say “this has to stop” as though this is an inherently wrong move. Teams NEED to make these bets because of the cap. Given the parity in hockey and how often teams get upset, it’s a bigger gamble to wait until they’ve done it already, pay them way more, and then HAVE to win in a super tight window before you start running out of money to pay the rest of your core. This isn’t the NBA.
Completely agree 💯💯💯
As a habs fan, I agree
it was barely his second NHL year and was on a 50-60 goal pace before the injury, how crazy is that, the habs have never had such a player since i started following the habs in 2006
It's hard to switch from "if ducharme wasn't his coach" when people are always making comparisons about his ELC and Matthews ELC stats
soft undersized one dimensional powerplay merchant
Shouldn't you save the ifs for the Flames immediate future?
I love your videos but this is is a really really bad take
They NEED This To Change… By "They" he mean us, the YouTube viewers, by "This" he means low content videos like this one.
Under MSL in his last 2 years, he has 48 goals and 70 points in 82 games. So he could get 45-50.
Signing a player to a big contract early after they've already shown their potential at the NHL level is not a risky bet. It's smart, futuristic team building. Thinking a player is going to be elite, and knowing that they're going to be elite are two different things. Just look at the Matthew Tkachuk trade. Treliving knew he had franchise caliber potential, yet he chose to wait on giving him his big contract, and now look how they turned out. They couldn't afford to keep him once his bridge deal was up, so he got traded and immediately gave one of the greatest playoff performances in recent memory all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. If Hughes didn't sign him to his big contract, then he probably would be leaving the Canadiens sooner, rather than later.
Annnnd unsubscribe😂 that 3 videos of you talking non sense!
Everyone thinks the next Leon Draisaitl is right around the corner.
"Awwe, man. I'm gonna look like a genius when Caufield scores 50 goals in a couple years." Eh………… I doubt it.
He’s overrated af
Caufield like Zegras are well overrated lol
Caufield is so fun to watch that’s why he’s got that money. He can fill the bell center
Cole Caufield brings with him so much positive to the habs. He seems to be friend with every young players in the league. All the forwards prospects before the draft say they want to play with that guy. He never talks about the pressure in a big market like Montreal. Youtubers and fans around the league talks about him. The positive vibe around the Habs right now with Caufield, Suzuki and the young D core make Montreal a lot more attractive. And I really do think we have the best gm in the business right now in Kent Hughes.
It might just be who I hang out with/chat hockey these days, but I don't hear many Habs fans (includes me) saying that he was close to Matthews in skill or scoring. I'm just more excited to see him develop and get a high scoring season.
hot take but I think caufield is going to end up being the best player to come out of his draft class
nuge n drais contracts are proof this works….
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas. I think young players have to wait their turns, as a Leafs' fan, I've seen how this goes, it isn't a happy place.
High risk high reward
To be fair, when Toronto has Matthews, Marner, Nylander etc, we know our Habs MUST have some sort of response. The team of Richard, LaFleur, and so many greats cannot be outshone by those perennial chokes up the St Lawrence. So yeah, hype train – go!
Uuuhhh….he HAS done it.
He’s scored 48 goals in his last 82 games.
i WANT to like your channel, but YOUR insight makes you sound like some american that doesn't actually watch hockey and just checks scores and OTHER peoples reviews of the games. a sub 8 million dollar deal for somebody who can score (and in the playoffs, or did you not watch their cup final run?) is a steal and will be a steal in 5-7 years.
why does this guy keep talking about caufield as if hes not legit, he clearly hasnt been following. just look up last 82 games stats.. HES HIM
caufeild is a great player not just a goal scorer his defensive game is impressive as well just wanted to throw that out there as well just because no one talks about it
Jack Hughes, 8m x 8 years, 99 points breakout season this year
Tim Stutzle, 8.35m x 8 years, 90 points breakout season this year
Cole Caufield, 7.85m x 8 years, TBD
Very comparative contracts. Time will tell if Caufield follows a similar trajectory. Wish him all the best.
caufield is getting this contract because he has proven he is a goal scorer, he could've gotten more in another market. think about the situation of the habs to, habs are rebuilding and we NEED the young pillars of our team to stay to make the re build stick
Not a Mtl fan but he was playing injured too. Steal of a player. Hopefully he stays healthy. He'll have to adjust his game as he gets a target on his back and opposing teams figure him out a bit. Matthews seemed to be able to score at will until teams started putting double coverage on him and not letting him have any sort of lane on the PP.
$7.85M x 8 years? His numbers aren't even that great.
GP. G. A. P. +/-
10 4 1 5 -1
67 23 20 43 -24
46 26 10 36 -10
Total 123 53 31 84 -35
67 career season high in games played…huge red flag
26 career season high in goals….not overly spectacular
43 career season high in points…nothing close to a point a game
That career +/- is wrechedly aweful
It is risky for a guy who struggles to stay healthy and hasn't put up the numbers. At best Caufield right now is a 2nd line forward but even at that there are 3rd liners putting up better numbers.
Nice take on this one. Keep up the great work
PFFFFF you can't compared the shrimp with Matthews…3 seasons 53 goals !!!! Pace ??? You can't count on what he didn't do
Mathew’s is overrated and is paid way to much that’s why the leaf fans won’t see a cup for years to come. They’re to attached to players that produce 30-40 goals everyone falls flat. Same with the oilers Connor Mc David Carrie’s but nobody else can. Yet they take all the cap space.
If you look at VGKs team almost non are true goal “scorers” with 30-40 goal seasons. If you see the 2022-23 stats everyone has a median of 25 goals each player. Everyone is lethal not just 1-2 players that are “top” scorers. So Canadiens are doin it right paying for his skills not the stats.
