IGGY! Man, i am so proud to be Canadian.
Crosby may not quite have the points totals to put him in greatest of all time contention, but until it is surpassed, this will always be the most legendary goal in Canadian hockey history, and for that Sidney Crosby will forever be immortalized.
Can we just discuss how much smashing into the boards with his bare hand with the weight of 3 adult men must have hurt Niedermeyer? But he didn't give a fuck in that moment.
You couldn't ever hope to have it turn out that way. Simply incredible. Tell ya what, it wouldn't have been as "perfect" as this, but I wouldn't have been too upset if USA won. I'm a proud Canadian but team USA played it's ass off and could've easily won. Huuuge respect.

Once upon a time I was proud of Canada
I grew up in North Vancouver and was 16 at the time of the games. Spent just about every night downtown attending the litany of free concerts, skipped school most of the games to watch or attend events, and I remember watching this one with my family in my childhood home. Never before those games and never after have I felt that kind of pride to be a Canadian. Thanks for the memories, I’m so grateful for them!
