  1. eight year contract $8.5 million first year, $9 million second year, $9.5 million third year, $10 million years four through eight for Nylander?

  2. I think Willy would look SEXY in a Blackhawks jersey standing next to Bedard! BROMOSEXUALโค๐Ÿ–ค All joking aside Willy already got *ucked and didn't get kissed by Toronto he deserves to GET PAID!

  3. I would trade them both. Should able to gain a goalie, two defence men and two top forwards.

  4. I don't much about auston matthews so I don't know how good he is but from the outside looking in he really doesn't seem (at least to me) to be in the same tier as McDavid or Mackinnon. 14M seems like a crazy high number to me…

Here are a list of players who have had a similar amount of points to Matthews over the last two seasons (I am including Matthews MVP season as to not cherry pick his slower season this year):

    Autston Matthews 191 points (147 GP) –> wants $13-14M
David Pastrnak 190 points (154 GP) –> signed long term at $11.25M (one year older than matthews)
Matthew Tkachuk 213 points (161GP) –> signed long term 9.5M (same age as matthews)
Jason Robertson 188 points (156GP) –> signed medium term at 7.75M (two years younger than matthews)
Kiririll Kaprizov 183 points (148 GP) –> signed medium term at 9M (same age as matthews)

I would hate to be in the leafs position and having to pay Matthews that much when I see all these other contracts around the league which are way better than his

  5. the leafs are notorious over- payers so they have baked in the situation they are in with willie. we always refer to treiliving in these talks but let's get real, it's shanahan who is the shot caller here and he stubbornly wants to run it back with this ineffective group. they are 8 million over the cap right now so i think nylander will have to go.

  6. Manโ€ฆ as a Pens fan, Iโ€™m so grateful we had stars like Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and even Guentzel, that have all took several team friendly deals. This team would not have all them cups.

  7. At this point as a long time Leaf's fan I am on the fence. I feel like if no trade's are made that is a clear message that Shanahan has said no. If they try go back with the Core 4 and it fail's yet again that will be the end for a lot of fans. I hope they start to do what I did , have not spent a penny on anything Leaf related till they improve in the post season for over 10 years. Nothing will force change that is needed more then revenue loss. Looking to forward to watching COL, SEA , and VGK.

  8. Truth- Dream Team days are over in Toronto? Who are they keeping? Mathews and Marner? Let Willy and JT go? Expensive to keep 4 players that good!

  9. Why pay these 4 over paid princesses that flop in the playoffs where it matters lol the asking price they want is insane its a no wonder toronto never goes anywhere paying these 4 as much as they do its time to trade the farm and rebuild i think its time the fans of toronto deserve better and this is from a wings fan

  10. Nylander ain't worth 10 Million Dollars. He plays an offensive not defensive game. You wouldn't bake just half a cake? When it's time to negotiate he shows up. This is just getting silly with all these players concerned about money than about winning a cup. Even Samsonov wants close to 5 Million Dollars. No Cap Space, I see a trade happening.

  11. At this point Toronto needs to go full rebuild mold and trade both before it gets more ugly than it is

  12. All these GMs overpaying players with the notion, CAP is going up. Once again, theyโ€™ll find themselves in cap trouble. Burning through the cap space before they even get it
