  1. Reinbacher is a good pick. it's maybe not the pick everyone wanted, but he was scouted all year as a top 5 prospect… everyone seems to forget that. also a Right handed Defensemen who can move the puck is hard to get in the NHL full stop. it's not a sexy pick like Mitchkov but it's a safe pick and it was a good pick for what the Habs need. 5 other teams passed on Mitchkov… and We are probably set down the Centre I would think at this point.. you gonna bump Cole or Nick off the first line? in the next 8 years? I'd hope not..

  2. Best ever reaction to Tropicalnhl's #5 pick. I hope his chair is okay. It's not Reinbacher's fault Kent's pick was a flop. He would been a fine #20 pick but missing out on Leonard or much better yet Michkov at #5 was a catastrophic failure by the Habs. I don't know who was responsible for the choice. I know it's a team effort, but I doubt all hands were on deck. Even Carey seemed to doubt the name on the envelope (just like in La La Land versus Moonlight). I believe it was supposed to be Michkov but the bright lights played tricks on his eyes and he said David instead.

  3. Tbh im gonna trust kent.. these D lines look good.
    Guhle logan
    Hutson reinbacher
    Arber. Barron
    Harris matheson
    Savard

They definitely will be making some trades or something soon they are do stacked on D moving forward and there is other solid dmen in the system that people are forgeting who have a real chance like norlinder and engtrom… its insane how stacked they Are now. I think reinbacher was the final touch they needed on D.. they do have some under rated offence. They will surprise people i think and theyl have lots of cap eventually they could use on another fwd too

  4. Bro.. I’m banking on Dobes to be our next goalie. He looks really really solid and I can’t wait to see him with Laval this year.

  5. Fowler is 6'2", 223lbs. He's a big guy with good lateral movement and a "calm" about him. (Carey Price was a big guy with great lateral movement and a "calm" about him…not saying Fowler is a Price but there's that). I have to agree, even though Michael Hrabal is taller/longer legs/reach, I think Fowler might turn out to be the better choice (even though Hrabal was already picked). He has family in Quebec for what that's worth, seems pretty happy to be drafted by the Habs, seems smart and knows his strengths and also where he needs to improve. I think this was the Habs best pick in the draft…unfortunately in a draft stacked with offensive talent.
My reaction to Reinbacher was not as extreme as Trop's but drafting a 2nd pairing, at best, Dman with limited offensive potential with a 5th pick in THIS draft…I can't help but think this is simply to avoid criticism in the future had they picked a forward that didn't end up a good top 6 forward. A chicken-shit move.
Leonard is a rare beast and they should have picked him, a 3 zone gritty player that can score, skate, check, win board battles, transitionally strong, make plays, deceptive, great shot, carry the puck and make an opportunity out of it….oh well. A (potentially better) replacement for Anderson lost.
Reinbacher, they say, is NHL ready but he's finishing school and playing another year in Europe. Hopefully he works on his skating and offensive game. He'll be a good RD when he arrives regardless, but a 2nd pairing Dman at best as a 5th pick…ouch. I would of rolled the dice on next year's draft for a RD and in the meantime tried to find a trade instead. There was no big panic, they have Savard, Barron, Kovacevic, Wideman as a spare in the meantime and then Mailloux. If Reinbacher also possessed top offensive defenseman potential too, this pick would make more sense but it doesn't. They're over-exaggerating his worth.
And no, they won't be trading for a top 6 center or winger, they'd have to give up a top player and take on a big contract. Suzuki isn't very good at faceoffs, Dach and Newhook are worse and Monahan is their best FO center, if he stays healthy he'll be traded for a draft pick. Dach and Newhook are not natural centers, they are better wingers. See the problem?
Monahan if healthy will be traded to a playoff contender for a 17-32 pick.
Not every "project" player is going to work out like Dach…who I'm starting to think is injury prone, Guhle too.

  6. Top right side d-men are hard to find. After the top 4 fell like it did, I think he was the right choice. As for Nashville offering Askarov and their 2 1sts? I'm skeptical and we'll never know. Passing on a deal for Askarov turned out well when Fowler fell into their lap in the 3rd. I would have loved for them to take Michkov but I understand why they didn't. Glad is was Reinbacher they settled on.

  7. The Habs draft is going to have lasting repercussions. The effect on Reinbacher's psyche is going to be traumatic and crushing. An 18 year old facing the wrath and vehemence of a Montreal public is going to be difficult to handle. If things go badly, it's possible the team may find it difficult to insulate him. All of the goodwill amassed by Kent Hughes and the management team may evaporate. If Reinbacher asks for a trade is a few years don't be shocked, especially when Michkov is Rookie of the Year.

  8. think 31 was drunk/high n froze up on the podium… think thats the last time he's up at the podium for the habs.. lol

  9. Volokhin for me will turn out to be the best goalie out of the draft this guy Is so underrated

  10. michkov is a headcase and angled himself to play and get drafted by Philly. 6 other team's passed on supposedly best player after bedard. smells like attitude problems

  11. i agree with some of it …BUT PLEASE go tell a wifi jr. he will not play in the NHL OR FOR THE HABS lol …good luck with that talk .. good channel will be looking in cheers !

  12. Defensemen are harder to project I listen to a lot of scouts podcasts. But it was not that big of a reach, teams skipped on players like Moore, Benson for probably good reasons we don´t know and with these out of the table Reinbacher would be projected to go est. 7th on average by most relevant scout agencies.

  13. They are complete dumbasses when it comes to drafts. Caufield is the only good draft pick they've had in years and years

  14. reinbacher will be the next josi. Can't wait to see all your faces when he will break into a top 2 defensman

  15. You know what? I have been proven wrong. I reget my quick and uneducated opinion about Reinbacher. I was so focused on getting a Smith or a Leonard or a Michkov or a Benson that I needed time to recalibrate my thoughts. It took a day to look into Reinbacher and I admit I was very wrong. You can tell all of your friends that the Habs indeed made an excellent selection, and aren't we lucky we didn't select a prima donna that may end up being a Nail Yakupov in three years.

  16. The negatives we heare about Mitchkov are only post draft PR to calm the fans. As it turns out he may pretty well be a great team mate. Shure, some scouts placed Reinbacher at 6… Some scouts also put Mitchcov at 2!.. wake up! There are rumors that Mitchkov could come to the NHL as soon as next year. Can you imagine how stupid we will look? This is so embarrassing and frustrating. I have nothing against Reinbacher, he isn't responsible for any of this, but he will forever be stigmatized for being the player the Habs took instead of future super star, two times Stanley Cup Winner and hall of famer Mitchkov. I feel a bit bad for Reinbacher actually. I hope he has a good mental and I will support him in this less then favorable endeavor. Remember please, it's NOT HIS FAULT. Probably he is himself wondering wtf just happened…

  17. My impression from this draft, the habs recruited for the vision of a team, mr. Hughs mentioned it himself yiu need diversity and get players to be 4th liner for the team , grinders, bangers, hard workers

  18. I was really surprised that montreal didnt go after cameron allen in the 5th round with the pick that we used for harris i think allen has way more potential then harris and is a right handed defenseman
