Sam Bennett Is Pro Cycling’s Most Disrespected Sprinter



Irish sprinter Sam Bennett was left off Bora Hansgrohe’s Giro d’Italia and Tour de France teams.

But after winning three consecutive stages at the Binck Bank Tour, Bennett is clearly the favorite for sprint stages at the Vuelta a España.

    I think the decision to bring Ackermann to the Giro wasn't a bad decision. He got 2 wins. But Bennett is certainly underrated. If he gets a win at the Vuelta, which he should, he could get leadership with DQT at the Tour and compete a hat trick of the GT's.

    Sam has shown his professionalism by taking wins when the opportunity has been given to him. He’s.stayed loyal. But now it’s time to move on to bigger things. I’d like to see him have a shout in some of the Spring Classics next season. He is half decent at getting over some of the climbs maybe not Fleche! But he’s.well capable of a Milan SAN Remo. And he’s got Grinta in spades, just look what he did in the Tour of France in 2015 when he got took out at the opening stage. Appreciate you highlighting one of our own 👊🍀

    In 2020, Bennett will beat Ackermann again and again, guaranteed. He is still getting better and in 2020, he will dominate. Bora will realise it is better to have a winner on the team than just a German rider placing 2nd to a former team mate. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💪💪💪

    Ian. You make a reasonable case. I am a fan of BH. I certainly like BH best when Sagan is left off the selection for an event. BH in 2019 has shown talent and results in a good number of week and grand tour events in sprints, breakaways and mountains. Explain how well Bennett fits into DQ if Viviani is still relishing glory there ? I think Elia’s best days are behind him, but he is a cry baby ( see 2019 Giro behavior ) and will try to keep himself on stage before behind and upstage Bennett each time they compete with the same jersey.

    Add to that all the limeys still fawning over washed up Mark Cavendish and his 20th place results, "OI M8 I THINK CAVS BACK THIS TIME INNT HE??" While Sam Bennet is out here putting down whoever they say is "the worlds fastest man"
