This has been an amazing interview so far, they have discussed draft, coaching staff, scouting staff, Huska, Mitch Love, Sutter, Toffoli, Phillips, the r-word and so on. Highly recommend to listen/watch the whole thing.
Edit. Sure sounds like Backlund won’t be a captain for this team

Some highlights:
-Not loading up on UFA’s to give prospects a chance; believe with more opportunity some of them could be even better players
-Trying to think longterm
-No pressure from owners to make moves
-It’s not a rebuild with the players they have
-Couldn’t justify giving Phillips a one way deal; but not happy that Darryl didn’t give him a chance; would have made decision to on Phillips easier if they had more opportunity to see what he could do at the NHL level
-In cap era, need to develop players in the NHL

Really loved the way Rob Kerr conducted this interview.
It’s always interesting to listen to Conroy. I love that he’s been generous with his time and more open with the media, and in non-traditional ways. All we got were press conferences and short dial-in interviews in the past. In his short time, we’ve already seen him jump on multiple podcasts and give much longer interviews. His answers aren’t canned and uninformative, and he’s done a great job of being honest without being disrespectful.

Wait what? at about 1:07:something they are discussing Toffoli?
I was under the impression he wanted out. Sounds like they just traded him… wtf?
Edit: and we got a bag of bricks for him, Sharangovich and a third rounder.
Edit Edit: at 1:49:30 even Conroy’s daughter knows we got shafted.
