  1. Building in the draft helps Penguins did it 2003, Fleury , 2004 , Malkin , 2005 Crosby and Letang , 2006 Jordan Staal and he was a big part of the 2009 cup winning team.

  2. I love what the LA Kings GM said about his team
"We tried to trade to get back that playoff success, look how well that worked out. The plan is now to draft, keep the team and see how it works out in the years to come"
I'm not saying teams shouldn't trade for assets but if LA shows signs of success then I feel like teams should look into holding off on trading "futures"

  3. Well you can't argue and say they don't draft well, they draft extremely well and most of the picks are used in favorable trades for the team. Like they won the stone trade, looks like they payed pennies on the dollars for eichel and none of the guys can become the mark stones or the jack eichel's so it's all good

  4. Vegas is trying to stack their team with a bunch of big name super stars causing them to lose all the depth and chemistry that made their team good. Look at them already. 2 players out and the team bombs. They have no picks and no prospects other than Beniers. I see this team being awful with a ton of bad contracts in the next few years.

  5. Vegas went for GOLD and fell short.
They were close but no cigar and now they have an aging team and few future NHL players.
I predicted at the beginning of the season (after the Fleury trade) that they just nuked their team.
Pittsburgh chose Murray over Fleury and Vegas made the same mistake. Fleury is more than a goalie … he's a strong leader in the dressing room and Lehner and Murray aren't anywhere near a Fleury.

  6. Well, they made the finals so they thought they could win it all and gambled. I guess it's a legit strategy. But a risky one as well

  7. It’s a business model designed to sell seats. It’s because Las Vegas isn’t a hockey town, rather, it’s an entertainment destination. You can say the same with LA – the Lakers and Rams follow that same strategy. There’s too much competition for entertainment in LA and Vegas that sports franchises need a gimmick to fill seats. That’s pretty much it.

  8. Cody Glass is a bust. They wouldn’t have traded him for Patrick if they didn’t know that.

  9. I really wish Vegas sold off players at the deadline in year one and stuck with the kids they drafted. I would have rather watch them build over the years through the draft.

  10. So they get a franchise center that's more than Krebs will ever be, Tuch is a loss but Eichel should weigh up for that and I do doubt that that pick will be that high to begin with. They did great here if you ask me, bassicly gave up Tuch and late first for a top 10 center

  11. Sounds like franchise suicide to me.
The exact opposite of what Yzerman is doing in Detroit right now.

  12. HATE Vegas!!! While I understand wanting to win right of the hop, especially for the cost of an expansion team, but it is far more impressive to build a winner than buy one so as long as Vegas misses out on the Cup, the happier I will be.

  13. I have a feeling that within 3 years, players will actually NOT want to sign with Vegas because it’s obvious the Knights don’t keep players or even prospects for long at all. If you end up getting traded there, you might as well rent a place and not buy a house.

  14. They’re doing a good job getting superstar talent though, I personally would want Stone, Petro, Eichel and Pacioretty as a core then prospects that may not pan out.
