It seems that the other NHL teams are picking the brains of the Leafs organization. Can’t really blame them. The Leafs have been a consistent 100+ point team since the ShanaPlan was implemented – a tremendous turnaround from being the laughingstock of the entire NHL (not the rightful place of an Original 6 team).
First, the Islanders made Lou their President and they’ve made deep runs in the playoffs.
And now, Pittsburgh has given Kyle Dubas the same deal.

Dubas 100% tried a brilliant negotiating tactic. His price to stay in TO was $6m/year and full control. They meet his price, great. They don't and they fire him or let him walk he looks great. It worked out perfectly for him because now he goes to a great city and organization, gets paid more and has full control.
You can do this in your personal life at work as well, provided you have options.
